if anyone has any info on who's dog this is, please contact me. he came to my house about a month and a half ago, i don't know if he was set out, or if he is just lost. He is a very loving dog and i think he is still in the pup stage. he looks like he might be part mastiff from his stripes, i'm not sure.
thank you.

Maybe part boxer, with a brindle coat?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Brindle_box...

Plus something else that gives him the longer nose, thicker coat and those black-rimmed eyes... maybe lab?

You've had him a month and a half? Hope you're gonna keep him, he's beautiful.

Go get him fixed. Unless you know people that will want them. They could end up like TIger. I know hard choice to make. I have all my dogs fixed and talked my neighbor into fixing his dog also.

Do you know of a good vet? I went to the Rogersville vet and the place was ruin down, smelly and unprofessional. I can't see me taking my dog there.

i always take my babies to Slaughters. There has been bad talk about them,as there is with all. My dogs get so excited when I go down that road the way to the Veternarian Office. Then when I go past it they look at me like you missed the turn off. John has alwasys done my babies good. Just like humans there is always a risk. The Vet on 11W I heard is also good. I have a friend that works there. I know for a fact that she is good with your babies.

Slaughters has my vote, with care being number one and cost exceptionally reasonable, and this I know from expierence. Awhile back I had to stray from John, they stay covered up and my little dog was coming into heat, they couldn't get her in for a couple of weeks to "fix" her so I took her to the place on Morris blvd. on this end of Morristown, now these people were excellent also, but.... when they brought out the bill, whoa!!
Now I understand it was higher because she was in heat but it was about 2 1/2 times higher than what John had quoted. If the care was not excellent with slaughters, price would be no object. They also brought one of my dogs back from Parvo which is almost impossible I understand. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas,

John does excellent work. A very good, kind, interest, caring vet. Couldn't ask for better. His staff is great, also.
Rates are very reasonable.

Dr. Slaughter is a great vet. Their prices are the most reasonable I've found in three counties, for office visits or just purchasing meds. But most important to me is his manner with dogs. When the rest of the staff couldn't get my pit (who is a bid baby) out of panic mode, Dr. Slaughter walked in the cubicle, laid a gentle hand on my dog's back, spoke a few words and instantly calmed my dog down.

I had forgotten about that talent, I had a Rott-boxer that had quite a temper and John was the only one in the office that could deal with him. He was not viscous, played with everyone but did not like going to the "doggy doctor". Died of old age in '98, one heck of a watchdog and and a helluva best friend. Some of ya'll on here probably played with him, thats all I'm sayin on the grounds it may identify me, ha ha ha.

Nice to have our own Dog whisperer here in Rogersville

I have only lived here 8 months and my chihuahua is pregnant so I figure I need a vet. When you mention a vet where are you speaking about? My husband said he saw a place in Cherokee. Thanks for info.

I do appreciate the info but I gotta tell ya that I didnt see the vet at Rogersville because when I stepped into the place it was a dump and I couldnt see bringing my dog there if it made me want to walk out. If this vet is that good he should improve his office with all the money he is making from all the people here that expressed a likely for him.

His office is as clean as the other vets that I have been to. with a ever flowing number of pets brought in, the only time they can clean is after closing hours. Yes, there is odors, but most dogs/cats have odors. And the meds also have odors. If you have a really sick animal it usually has an odor. They are re-arranging the office so maybe it will be to your liking. Weigh the choices. good vet (maybe unclean office) vs. expensive vet that doesn't care (clean office). Your choice.

If anyone has been to both Tri-County Animal Clinic in Bean Station as well as Dr. Slaughter, please let me know how they compare.
As others have said, money isn't everything and my baby's well being is everything; but with today's economy, I need to save where I can.
I've taken my dog to Tri-County for several years now, and no major complaints - but my baby hasn't had any issues either.
Also, I know Slaughter has a longer backlog to get in, so what happens in an emergency? Where do you turn?
