2 men were arrested this morning because they were in the school without permission. The same 2 men were spotted in the school yesterday morning as well. The cops were waiting for them this morning, thinking they would come back, and when they did they were arrested. I dont know if its drug or gang related or what, but they shouldnt have been inside the school.

Maybe are school board needs to check into this what will they have to talk about next meeting.
This could really be a bad thing myself i dont wont to see another young person hurt. I know that ptrick have changed somethings and i really agree with him. And you also cant lock the kids in the school and mrs rogers cant be at every door at the same time. Everyone needs to voice their thoughts like i said i dont wont another child hurt or killed

Me personally am looking into homeschooling my son and he may not go back to Cherokee after the school christmas break. Its ashame that I can't even trust the school to take care of my son while he's there to get an education. I left the big city to have a peaceful little town life.

Wee you said it yourself! So why carry it any further by voicing your opinion???????? There cant be a person at every single door in that school at all times. Theres like a hundred or more doors. The ONLY thing they could have done was arrest the intruders, and they did so. So give them kudos and a pat on the back for taking care of the problem and protecting your children while theyre in school.

now thats what i was told ! from lots of kids and that i know for a fact. he was there looking for J.H . and as for our kids safty i think in a time like this til the schools are safe again that our police departments should throw in another officer or two to help Miss Rogers during school hours, to make sure our kids are safe from intruders. and may i say to you Miss Rogers we all thank you for being there for our kids through out the year with your eyes and ears. JOB WELL DONE!

It looks like someone should have locked you in the school long enough for you to learn something.

Yes there are alot of doors at cherokee high school and they are all unlock every morning so anyone who wanted to can go in the school undetected. They could take over a whole wing if they wanted to and until the classes changed again no one would ever know. The school board needs to fix this problem and parents should demand the doors be replaced. The doors should be replaced with doors that are locked to the outside but still will open from the inside. The would meet the fire marshal codes and protect our precious children from intruders and stalkers and keep them a lot safer while they are in their classrooms. Then only allow visitors to enter from the front. Only the doors that are used to go to one building to the next should be opened during class change. Our children are sitting ducks at Cherokee High School with all doors being and locked all day. Anyone could enter any of the doors except for the front ones undetected. Don't believe me try it. Its very dangerous for those doors to be unlocked all day while are kids are in class. Parents need to complain to the school officials and especially the school board. Before its to late. Our kids are worth it.

Don't make this a negative about the school because the 2 individuals were cuaght and the people involved did a great job. Blame it on the thugs who have created this situation

Home school your child if you want. You could have 300 guards inside the school and NONE of them could stop an intruder from walking in, especially if the intruder looked like a student. How in the hell is every teacher or staff member supposed to know what every single student looks like? Its IMPOSSIBLE. Blame it on the thugs in this town...not the school. They did EXACTLY what they should have.

A lot of it certainly can be blamed on the schools. They have a hand in producing these so called thugs. They can't even clean up the dress code. The in school progra, solution they came up with to stop disciplinary problems is a joke students like to go to in school its running over with students and now the county has had to fund a complete whole other building to help with the problem. Come on now. Sure a lot of parents are to blame for the out come of the students. But disciplinary actions in the school need to be more strict. Students are laughing in teachers faces when they try to discipline them. They have to lock the bathrooms between classes because they can't keep a handle on things. Students who miss behave nine times out of ten are just scolded or slapped on the hand and told to stop that. I sub a lot for Hawkins county schools. I know

i some what agree.... they pick the students they want to discipline .... my daughters boyfriend got seen on school grounds picking my daughter up and got expelled .... because he was suspended.... yes he shouldnt of been there but expelling a child for that..... the kids that got caught with ounces of weed and coke a few weeks ago in the school building during school hours didnt even get expelled... so i feel the school picks and chooses who they want to discipline .....

No, we are not perfect, but we are not the problem. We work with what you send us. And all you keep sending us are broken and beaten children who have no idea what it's like to respect or be respected. They come to us with no concept of morals or values. They come to us from mostly single parent homes where the government is the sole provider of income. They come to us with multiple issues that stem from outside of the school...in their own "homes." Yet, you sit there with your pious finger pointing at us. Give me a break and quit substituting. You don't deserve to be in the same school with the rest of us.

I hate to be the one to break it everyone, but the children in the school is a direct reflection of the community and a product of the homes they are 'raised' in. It's hard to swallow, but it's true.

He knew the consequences of his actions. He obviously has no respect for rules or else he would have followed them. Of course the school "picked" on him-HE BROKE THE RULES! Geez!

Maybe you need to stop your daughter from seeing this boy. He obviously isn't the brightest crayon in the box.

You all need classes in parenting and how to take responsibility. It never fazes me why my students are the way they are...look who's raising them!

WELL I HAVE FOUR CHILDREN AND NONE OF MY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM AND ARE VERY RESPECTFUL AND MANY TEACHERS IN CHEROKEE WILL SAY THAT TOO.... BUT ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW THEY PICK AND CHOOSE.... MY SON HAS A LEARNING DISABILITY AND HAS A 3RD GRADE READING LEVEL.... BUT IS IN REGULAR ART CLASSES.... HE WAS GIVEN A PAPER TO READ AND COULDN
'T .... THE TEACHER KNEW THIS AND WHEN SHE CAUGHT HIM DRAWING INSTEAD OF READING SHE MAD A SCENE IN FRONT OF HIS PEERS IN THE CLASS.... WHEN MY SON GOT UP AND WALKED OUT HE GOT KICKED OUT OF SCHOOL..... THEY WOULD HAVE PREFERRED HIM TO STAND INFRONT OF HIS PEERS AND SAY HE COULDNT READ.... SO MY PERSONAL OPINION OF CHEROKEE AND THEIR TEACHERS.... THEY ARE THERE FOR A PAY CHECK AND NOT THE CHILDREN....(I HAVE MET MAYBE 5 THAT ARE THERE FOR THE KIDS)..... REMEMBER THESE CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE....
