The only reason an Amber alert would not be issued is if it a possibility he is a "runaway".

The police don't seem to think the boy is in danger is the reasoning for no amber alert. I work with father and he is worried sick. No reason for the boy to runaway.

HE IS A RUNAWAY, that is why there is no Amber alert. The Amber alert is for abducted children.

Do you know the family? Do you know where he is at? Since you know so much, you tell the father his child ran away from home. I am a parent who loves my children and does everything possible to give them a good life. Nobody better ever say they ran away from home. There is no reason for that.

It is being shared around Facebook, he is allegedly with some girl, so if your child runs away you just couldn't accept that? WOW! Well we won't tell you then. I want no harm to come to this child, just stating what the family and friends have said on facebook and hence, why there is no Amber alert!

He might be a run away but somebody is driving them and if I was his parents there ass would be mine! He is not old enough to leave on his own!!! They need to put his picture on tv.

This happened about 2 years ago with 2 girls about this age. Some adults had taken them into VA. If I were the parents, I would contact all 4 area papers.

For your info it is my child that is out there. No I can't accept it nor can the people that are trying every way they know to help find him and get him home. My son may not have been abducted but was manipulated by someone who has done this same thing several times before. Please be more sensitive with your comments.

I have children and I am praying VERY HARD for you and that your son returns safely. God bless you and your family.Ignore the insensitive remarks and concentrate on trying to keep from falling apart and contact EVERYONE you can think of that he has known within the last year or more. It's a small town and you will more than likely be able to get information from those who know him and this nightmare be over soon....to those who don't understand, well, hopefully you are not a parent!

First of all, I want nothing more than your child to come home safely, as I already stated. I was simply educating people as to why no Amber alert was issued. I am sure you have done all you can do as a parent but pointing the blame at everyone except your child may be a little short sided. If he was this weak then someone dropped the ball, and to "A Mom"... I am a parent to a hard working young lady that went through a rebellious stage but no, she never ran away, nor was manipulated by someone to run away. I am praying for the safe return of this child, and I think "A Mom" gave some good advice, I am sure "Dad" has been exploring all these options. Seems like the papers would pick this up as a public announcement type thing if nothing else... Good luck finding your son!

First off, my son is plenty to blame. And he will face consequences. I agree without a doubt that he should. But ma'am, no one "dropped the ball" as you put it. Would this girl have ran away as she has done in the past without my son as her companion? More than likely. Would my son have ran away without the influence of this girl? Doubtful. A teenage boy and the hormones that drive them make an easy target if someone chooses to take advantage of that. But your comments on the Amber Alert are correct. The newspaper has picked this story up and it should be out very soon. The Detectives with our local law enforcement have also been working very hard on this following up on every bit of info. We have all thought at some point he would just come home. But the possibility of being a willing participant turned into wanting out of that situation is very real. I thank all of you for your prayers!

Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. Hoping for a safe and quick return home! I would hesitate to say this would never happen to my child. But by the grace of God any of our children could be put in the same situation. All any of us can do is pray for them each day and put them in God's hands. We love you and continue to pray for Nik.

I wish people would try to put themselves in others shoes before they respond so quickly with judgement :(
As parents we try to set a good example for our children with our own actions daily..ever mindful of how easily impressionable our youth can be. What we forget is how influential their peers can be to them when they are having a rough patch in their lives and to a teenager their favorite shirt being dirty is the end of the world. They are teenagers because they haven't developed experience or logic they way adults have thru a lifetime of practice. They mess up sometimes but we as parents always love them and want the best life has to offer for them..keep your head up and your heart open..we are praying for you and your family
