Does anybody know where I can find Wonder Roast Chicken these days? Also does anybody know where I can get in touch with the Co. that put then out? THANKS

Yum!! Gilpins had those many moons ago. Best comparison for wonder roast would be Sam's Club.

Mayor of Persia,

This recipe is close to the Wonder Roast Chicken if your interested in preparing it yourself.

Roasted Chicken

2 ts Salt
1/2 ts White pepper
1 ts Paprika
1/4 ts Garlic powder
3/4 ts Cayenne pepper
1/4 ts Black pepper
1/2 ts Onion powder
1/2 ts Thyme
1 Whole roasting chicken
1 c Chopped onions

Combine all spices in a small bowl.
1. Rinse chicken, inside and out. Drain well.
2. Rub spice mixture oover skin and the inside of chicken.
3. Place in a resealable plastic bag, seal and refrigerate overnight.
4. When ready to roast, stuff cavity with onions. 5. Place chicken BREAST SIDE DOWN in roasting pan.
6. Roast uncovered at 250* F ( really!---250*F) Anything over 225 is safe as long as the chicken reaches an internal temperature of at least 155*, which this does, and more.
Roast for about 5 hours.
Baste occasionally with pan juices or until pan juices start to caramelize on bottom of pan and chicken is golden brown.

I personally use the "Chick Can Rack" or called the Beer Can Chicken (beer butt). I purchased mine from Wal Mart and the chicken is wonderful.

Persia General store, use to have wonder roast chicken , not sure if they still have them . Always smelled so good when you came in the door , bought 1 once family didn't much care for it.

Wow...ok now I'm hungry. What a treat it used to be going to Gilipins after church on Sunday to pick up a WonderRoast chicken for lunch. There was nothing like it.

but I can't untill I get up got to go to bed they have the recipe on here but Walmart's is good oh yes butter with potatoes and rolls so hungar getting weak I think I could eat a meatloaf (remember how little my was)getting so weak. poor little sis good-nite bless my heart

Just put one in the oven, hope it is as good as Gilipan's used to be!

Next oven you buy, go with a convection oven (forced air). Toggling on the forced air while cooking provides a whole new level of flavor and texture on poultry, pork, beef, lamb, etc.. It also permits you to make "fries" in the oven, with far less fat than ones done in a skillet of oil.

Another trick with roast chicken is to mix 1 teaspoon of hot sauce with 1 oz of honey, 4 ounces of hot water, stir well and brush onto the chicken 15 mins before the chicken is done and place back in oven to finish. You can also add in a spoon of lemon juice or orange juice if you want.

Oh, don't forget the MSG...I've had the WonderRoast chicken before and I'm sure it was well spiked. Was very salty as I recall.
BTW, I'm not paranoid about MSG, I have a small bottle myself which I've had for years.
I sometimes put teaspoon in home-made soups, Campbell's already has plenty enough

Rogersville Wal-Mart has pretty good roasted chicken although their fried chicken is crap.
