Would be Ideal place for City Hall. On Town Square. People can't find the one now. Need more room. No parking space at City Hall!!!!!
Court House on on corner and City Hall on the other. GO FOR IT. Beautiful Fit.
People have been finding it just fine for years, there's a big parking lot right across the street, and why do they need more space?

MORE DRUNKS, MORE POLICE AND MORE SPACE FOR HOLDING DRUNKS FROM NEW LIQUOR STORES.

And you haven't noticed how Rogersville has grown.

Why would Christian Sells buy the business. They are the ones that put them under. If the close they get the business for free. It's a win win for them if the city buys property.
They wouldn't get the business if someone else bought it.

There are just as many drunks in Rogersville as there were before the liquor stores opened, only now they don't have to drive to Kingsport or Morristown and Rogersville gets the tax money. We already have a new holding tank for drunks, it's called the Justice Center so we don't need another.

Yes I noticed how the town has grown but not enough for them to buy high price property on Main St. All town business can be handled from the current city hall.

They should of made the Hales Spring Inn the new city hall. The rooms on the second and third floors would make a nice drunk tank.

The city could have bought it but waited for the Heritage Assoc. to get a mortgage from Phillips bank then took it over.

They already have agree to purchase price and everything with Mayes in Morristown. But I have not seen it heard anything in paper or meetings about this. To my understanding from current owners it's all but a done deal
Looks as if I was correct again. They are moving

I'm sure Sells and Phillips would like it to be city hall, and the voters have sat by and let them get away with all kinds of corruption, but I believe they'd draw the line at that. They're in their seventies now and wanting to pass down their kingdom to their heirs, but that ain't gonna happen.

Since Rogersville likes to talk about its history, here's a little history you should know. In 1894 J. O. Phillips was named City Recorder. By 1896 he was an alderman, serving 2 years. In 1904 he was alderman again, serving until 1908. In 1914 he was elected alderman for another 2 year term. In 1918, he and Dr. J. S. Lyons appeared on city council together. Phillips served only that term, but Lyons continued on until 1924 when Phillips came on once more, serving years. In 1934 Dr. Lyons became mayor and was mayor until 1948. In 1952 Phillips became mayor for one term. In 1960 Dr. Lyons became an alderman again for 4 years. In 1964 his son, Dr. Henry Lyons was elected alderman, becoming mayor in 1966, reverting to alderman in 1967 through 1971, the year Jim Sells was elected alderman. Sells served as alderman through 1977. Bill Lyons became City Recorder in 1975. In 1977 Sells was elected mayor and Bill Phillips was brought in as city attorney. All that remained the same until Lyons' retirement in the summer of 2016. Now bringing in another Phillips is under discussion. Folks, you can't make up this stuff.

Wonder who is going to throw a party where family members laid dead? Wonder who thought another party place by the Inn and Price Public was a good idea?

My understanding is they are basically gutting it, redoing, and redecorating. It won't look like a funeral home when all is said and done. It is larger than Price Public for sure. And at HSI, don't you have to have them cater? Not everyone wants to pay their inflated prices. We don't need another credit union, but we are getting another one of those less than 100yds from Appalachian, and not far from ECU. It is what it is. We watch, and wait.

We aren't getting a new credit union. They're been here for years in the mill building.
