There is a significant difference between the mileage of most vehicles using 100% gas versus those using 10% ethanol. From what I'm seeing on my 1991 Dodge(Mistsubishi) truck and my wife's 2009 Prius, the difference is close to 10% better with pure gas. In addition, my push mower & riding mower have significantly less power and are harder to start if the gas has 10% ethanol in it. The leaf blower and chain saw areso aggravating when 10% ethanol gas is used that they are nearly useless.
With that in mind, I'm hoping some of you will share your known locations of stations which sell pure gas in the Tri-Cities area.
Thank you.

The gas station at the bridge in Persia as well. Also the one (not sure if that is the one above) near the new car wash by the middle school in town sells pure gas. That's it that I can find. I get it at the old Cherokee Market at the bridge in Persia. Get 22+ versus 19-20 mpg there.

Hmm interesting I thought all gas was the ethanol mix. Maybe you all will know is the prices compariable straight gas verses the mix? Because if you have to pay more for the full strength is it still worth it? Now in Owens case I see he says some of his items are ruuning differently with the mix and it may be well worth his time to buy the other. Either way it is something to think about.

I get 24 to 25 mpg and no pings at all in my '97 Crown Victoria. This is about 10% better mileage and does cost more. It is worth it to me.

The gas at Liberty is usually only about 4-5 cents higher than the other gas stations(if that much).

Yes, it has been proven that pure gasoline gives better performance and fuel economy than ethanol blends.
Further, last documentation I've read on the subject indicates it costs almost $5 a gallon to manufacture ethanol, to boot. It is only thru federal subsidies that it can be made affordable at all.
There have been some ethanol plant closures in the last couple of years; they simply lost too much money.

Not to mention, since so much of the corn crop is mandated by the feds to be used in fuel, anything else made from corn has gone up strikingly in price - and you'd be shocked at all the foodstuffs affected by that.

Heck, even my high-dollar Scandanavian-built weedwacker burned up a carburetor from the crap.
Mechanic at the co-op turned me on to Liberty, and it has made a difference in fuel economy in the hemi Ram, too - over 1.5 mpg better.
Wife says it runs better, too.

Another federal program that didn't pan out. Time to dump mandated ethanol production/subsidies.

If it is less than 10% more in cost it is worth it as you get more than 10% better mileage. It is usually only about .05 more per gallon at the one where I go on the bridge so it is definately worth it!

Is this one "over the bridge" the old Citgo?
Are they still buying their gas from Chavez?

From what I'm seeing online, looks like all the Citgos carry 100% gas without ethanol.
At 5 cents more a gallon, coupled with 10% better miles per gallon, factoring in the price per mile traveled... looks to me like buying 100% pure gas provides a real savings of approx 20 cents per gallon. Plus you have to factor in the lesser maintenance, so the savings is even greater.
Then think about how refusing to support ethanol would mean less corn/grain going to fuel for vehicles... and consequently many food prices would drop.

Then you get to considering what it costs to have a 2 cycle engine worked on because ethanol pooched it.. and it appears purchasing 10% ethanol contaminated gas is an exercise in throwing away hard earned money.

I have seen a rise of customers with "My mileage has gone down" complaints since the influx of ethanol, and have informed them, for the most part, why this is happening. Besides the crappy mileage, most vehicles just don't like this crap, but I must say we are lucky to just be seeing it in this area, I mean over the last year and a half. It has been in the midwest and up north for far longer, I have a good friend and customer that worked in Boston for awhile, and I have been fighting his drivability problems since, they started by calling it their "winter mix" then they forgot to "unmix" it the following spring. Well, I could go on and on, but the reason I started the original rambling was to let some of you know that some of the "private" gas stations get their fuel from different suppliers, so how they are sure they are not recieving ethanol I do not know.

What does ethanol do to a v6? I hadn't given any thought to ethanol vs gasoline, but from reading these posts,it appears to not only lower mileage, but also harm engines.
