MURFREESBORO — A video of Rutherford County deputies stopping a Middle Tennessee State University student at a DUI checkpoint, then asking him to pull over and searching his car for drugs after he wouldn’t roll the window all the way down, is nearing 2 million hits on YouTube.

Libertarians nationwide have been recording interactions with police in a campaign to demonstrate what they call violations of constitutional rights. On July 4, Chris Kalbaugh, a 21-year-old junior at Middle Tennessee State University, stopped at the checkpoint and encountered Rutherford County Sheriff’s Deputy A.J. Ross. Kalbaugh’s video camera was recording from the passenger seat, aimed toward the driver’s side window.

In the video, Ross asks Kalbaugh to roll down his window farther, and Kalbaugh refuses, saying it’s fine where it is. When Kalbaugh continues to challenge Ross’ demands, Ross orders him to pull his car over and step out. Later, a drug dog searches the outside of car, then inside.

The police think that they can do what ever they want regardless of what rights they violate. Maybe knowledge of the Constitution and The Bill Of Rights should be a job requirement.

we should have stopped this mentality long ago. truthfully we should rise up and march on the established authorities and leave them with no doubt that we will no longer tolerate this. we need to clarify exactly what we expect from them and assure them that anything else will be met with consequences.

The Tenth Amendment

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Of course anyone who paid attention to ABC’s “Schoolhouse Rock” within the last 40 years knows this is the preamble to the Constitution. In this day and age, when Washington legislation weighs more than most Thanksgiving turkeys, the founders of our country were able to succinctly describe the purpose and scope of the federal government in four eloquent lines.

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

This one’s not as well known, but it’s the Tenth Amendment, which basically gives any governmental power not specifically enumerated in the Constitution to the states. Politicians like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have long forgotten this amendment, and unfortunately most citizens have lost sight of who’s truly in charge of our republic, and as a result we’re left with the bureaucratic nightmare we see in Washington.

This brings me to my call for the use of nullification. Nullification is a legal theory in which a state can “nullify” any federal law that it deems unconstitutional. I’m not alone. According to the Rasmussen poll taken in May of this year,“52 percent of mainstream voters think states should have the right to block any federal laws they disagree with on legal grounds.”

fedrally , pot is illegal , but many states made it legal . this is a loop hole . if they want you , they can use the federal law , if they dont want you , they will leave you alone .

If your mamma tell you to clean up your room you clean up your room.

If the teacher tell you to do your times tables you do your times tables.

If the preacher tell you to get on your knees and pray you get down on your knees and pray.

This is what we learn. Without these lessons society would fall apart. People would be running around doing whatever they want.

There is a hierarchy and the bible tells us governments were established so that we would know what the lord wants of us.

So if the police tell you to do something, well you better do what they say! No back talk, no complaining. These police, just like our soldiers overseas are doing hard work to protect our great country and to keep the children safe.

If you don't like that maybe you should move to Cuba or Russia or some place you might like better.

Obey all authority. That is a lesson some people's parents seem to have forgot to teach them, and that is a shame.

Well these people are just going to end up in prison where they belong.

Jethro it's about time someone in this chat room started talking some sense! I can tell your momma raised you right that's for sure I always can tell you know.

Now all this talk about "constitutional rights" this and "third amendment" that, why that is nothing more than a bunch of back talk. You save that for the judge. When the police is there you obey and you say yes sir and you apologize for whatever it was you done, just come clean, just speak up and tell the truth of what you done.

I don't want to hear no more of this talk about some constitution. None of you is a lawyer and you don't know a thing about it. None of us does. Leave that sort of discussions for professionals who are properly educated and qualified to have an opinion.

You people think that just because someone has a badge and a pretty uniform that they have the authority to tell you what to do? Why?

Most of the cops in our country are hardened thugs, have the IQ of a brick, and engage in corrupt activities everyday. They are part of the crony system, they assault people on a daily basis, they plant and makeup evidence to get convictions, they throw people in jail without reason. And while they are busy picking on innocent, law-abiding citizens, the jails are turning out drug dealers just as fast as they are arrested.

The police in this country have zero credibility, it's been proven. If a cop tells you to do something, then you are well within your rights to shoot at them. Why? Because situations like this are exactly what guns are designed for, to protect yourself and your family from the bad guys.

When agents of government command you to do something that you do not particularly want to do, they are encroaching on your freedom. A government official has no right to tell you to do anything, and that goes double for a fat, butterball town clown cop from Podunk City, Tennessee.

Right, This "veronica" person here using phrases like "my officers", and "you will be held in court bla bla bla" does NOT work for HCSO, or likely any law enforcement agency. They are just on here to ridicule people and use their alter-egos to agree with themselves.
