If the father makes minimum wage then both parents should be working, have 50% custody and neither should be paying child support. Minimum wage earners are very different from the case of the wealthy millionaire that has a child with the scullery maid and for whom payments are not a burden.

Of course if both "parents" are on public assistants , then it's a draw.

If the laws haven't changed for one child it is 23% for 2 children is 32%. Don't take my word for it though but several years ago that is what was given.

I think people who generalize like that need to get off their high horse. Somebody ask a simple question and you jump at the chance to take the pulpit. Have a good day in church tomorrow, you know you want to go talk sh!t about people while you're there.

I for one,as a Dad, never could undertand child support. I pay 600 every month for two kids. When my kids need anything i still buy it above and beyond child support. . No matter how much it takes, children need to eat, and have needs at all costs. So whatever it takes to provide for my kids, they deserve it. They are my everything. How can a parent say no. Just my useless opinion. Thank you

Twizted Thinker, I commend you for taking care of your children, but you know that there are many men AND women out there that do not take care of their children. Getting child support out of some people is as hard as getting milk from a bull. It is those people that has made it necessary for the courts to step in. I know of one man that got custody of his son and raised him alone without any help from the mother. She was the cause of the divorce, did not want the child, didn't have a job, so therefore did not have to contribute to his support. When he tried to get help, he was denied any assistance because he was the father and it was his responsibility. What makes it any different for a man than a woman. The mother had a disability but the child could not draw social security. If the roles were reversed, father with a disability, he would have gotten to draw. Again, I commend anyone who is taking care of their children. It is the deadbeat dads(and moms) not stepping up to the plate that makes it hard for people that do take responsibility and they should. I know it's hard for someone making mimimum wage to pay support BUT don't you think they should have thought about how they would take care of a baby before it was even conceived?

I SHOULD be getting 600 a month for 2 kids but my ex was always making 17 an hour at that point. could have gotten 800 from him, but hey, even though he is a POS, he does not pay the 600 so why try for 800??

50/50 custody does not mean the child lives at each place half the time that is not good for the child bless its lil heart he don't know where home is. Now if he lives some where more than 4 or more days per week then where he is living at the other parent should be paying child support. The parent with the greatest responsibility of providing home, food utilities and such should be collecting some support. Then you have the question of who buys clothes ect ect. I am sick of women having to shoulder the major of financial responsibility because men wine and complain about paying child support. Thank God men are not the mothers where would this world be if they were. I shudder to think about it.

JAY Dog. . I would have to respectfully disagree with you about your post about men. There are far more good fathers than bad ones. its just you always seem to hear about the bad examples. Being responsible is a big issue i have found that determines the outcome of a father. But it takes two. Educating kids on safe sex would eliminate a part of this. So before you blame the man entirely, the woman was there too. Kids aren't meant to be fathers. Adults are. i was a child who was a father. It held me back from a lot of dreams, but when i look at her, i see reality. Not bashin you, really just commentin on you post as another angle. Thanks

Also would like to add, i totally understand if a man has hurt you or left you to deal with this issue, but i can assure you that somewhere out there is a man who can erase those bad memories. Hope you the best. . Also, based on your posts am just assuming. If not, disreguard this. Thanks.

I did not realize stating fact and giving a personal opinion was "whining". I thought this was an open forum and anyone could voice an opinion. Sorry I stepped on your toes. This father did not push for support and did not get any assistance so I guess he died actually take responsibility for his child and did not take any tax dollars or any other type of assistance to to raise his child. He did it by working.

The child is supposed to be able to live the same lifestyle at both homes. If the man is making min wage working full-time then a judge will also look at as the woman should also be making at least min wage full-time also. Therefore, based on him making min wage and you either not working or working making min wage there would be no child support. Now if he made say $10/hr and you didn't work or made min wage then the child support would be halfway between 10/hr and min wage per hour.

Well if all fathers out there felt about their child the way you feel about yours there would be no need for child support workers to enforce caring for a child. I just can't comprehend how a person can help create a life and then disregard the existence of that being. If a person can turn their back on their on flesh and blood that they help give life to what can the rest of the world be like when so many parents male and female have turned their backs on their own children. That is the quality of people we live around everyday. Sad isn't it.
