A feller got so drunk at the Rogersville City School last week he took out his ding dong to go pee in a whiskey bottle and couldn't get it back in his britches. A bunch of kindergartners were out in the school yard looking at him with his thang hanging out, and the cops busted him. This is what liquor stores do for your town. Now them little girls will have that image burned into their memory for life, and will probably turn into lesbians because of it. Not cool Rogersville heatherns. You voted in liquor, now we've got to live with the consequences.
Please

Blame it on the liquor store? Blame it on the citizens for voting in the liquor store?? Are you kidding???

Do you honestly believe that (if this is even true) this idiot wouldn't have acquired alcohol if it weren't for the liquor store? Did he tell you where he purchased the substance/beverage from?

What's the big deal with having a liquor store in Rogersville anyway? At least they ask for I.D. I remember a store near Cherokee Dragstrip that used to sell Alcohol to minors. Have you just ignored the beer section of convenience stores, grocery stores, and Wal-Mart all these years?

I guess you will say it will be okay when someone goes and buys this liquor at one of stores that is selling it and gets in their car drunk and wrecks and kills someone.

Why is it more likely that someone who spends $20 for a bottle of liquor is more likely to get drunk, be an azz, or drive than someone who spends $20 on beer at Food City, Walmart, Warriors, Creek Side????
Rather than the irresponsible driver, I say we blame Porters for selling them tires. They wouldn't be running people over if they didn't have tires!(Disclaimer- this is complete sarcasm because I don't know any better way to respond to some of the ignorance encountered in this town.)
Grow up.

Tires don't impair your reaction time or judgement.

This is easy to answer! The liquor is more or less 10 times stronger than beer. A lot of people can not hold enough beer to be as drunk as they would be on a much smaller amount of liquor. It is much easeier to drink more actual alcohol and much quicker if it is liquor. Beer is more or less about 4 percent alcohol and 80 proof whiskey is 40 percent alcohol.
The DUI arrests and wrecks blamed on DUI don't seem to be up yet.
However, driving in Rogersville is much worst. Have you noticed?
I have people drinking big time in 66 plaza parking lot. I seen the liquor bottles left in Walmart parking lot. I see a near accident or two almost every day now which is much much more often than before the stores. We have not seen an arrest like the one in front of the school before the liquor stores.
When you crash and get charge with DUI or get seriously hurt by a drunk driver, will you change your mind?

The key point is there has never been a lack of booze in Hawkins County. The lack of tax intake is another story. Now, our beloved county can realize some tax dollars on a product that was mainly purchased in Sullivan/Hamblen and Greene County. Those counties struggle way less than Hawkins for a number of reasons. We simply added a good point to our side of the ledger. And, yes, Rogersville City is within Hawkins County.

I couldn't pee into a whiskey bottle sober. I don't know how this guy thought he could do it stinking drunk. According to the Times-News, he peed all over himself and dropped the bottle on the ground. A botched job from beginning to end.

Urinating drunk men make lesbians? What have you been smoking?

If the sight of a drunk trying to whiz in a tiny bottle opening was that memorable, trust me she ain't gonna be a 100% lesbian. Ya'll have enough trouble staying out of the national news, with chicken boy and all. Don't run off businesses not ashamed to open up there.

Blaming liquor stores for the behavior of drunks is like blaming grocery stores for obese people.
