The Ted Trent pass to Ronnie Pope who then did a Flea Flicker to Treavor Burton who ran all the way for the touchdown.

The second meeting between the 2 schoools, it was also the first meeting between the 2 schools to be played at either one's field. First game ever between the schools was played at the Rogersville Middle School field because neither field was ready the first year of the schools. The second meeting went into overtime. Volunteer won 6-0.

volunteer winning last year on cherokee's home turf!(i don't have a good memory and that's all i could think of.) that and for volunteer fans, there hasn't really been much to cheer about in the 2 school's histories concerning football.

We still lost the game, but when Scott Trent scored 2 td's in the first 2 mins and we scored 2 just before half (he scored one more as did we also). Halftime score of 21-20 chiefs. Like I said they won 42-20, but when I look back that was a good game to play in. Always a good rivalry game.

Parrott Head is talking about 1997 when Volunteer had DB reject Tylee Henry and the boys. Chris Ford, Jody Pierce, Morelock, and Ryan Moore talked junk in the paper about how the streak was coming to an end.... and for a while, it looked like it was. Cher scored before half and Sandy Jackson scored early in the fourth to make it 20 to 14. Crowd of easily 5000 could sense the comeback. By far the biggest crowd i have ever seen at Cher. Anyways, Cher held on next possession and Adam Phipps as a sophomore threw a fly first play to Keiko Simonton. Crowd was going nuts. Brock Howe kicked the extra point that got partially blocked but still managed to barely get in. Cher defense held and Vol once again went home with their mouths shut

that was the year after i graduated, i actually went to that game, but no, i'd say that we (the fans) didn't go home with our mouths shut b/c that was one of the few times that we ever saw volunteer compete with cherokee. was for me anyway. i remember that partially blocked extra point like it was yesterday, i was sitting in the middle of all the cherokee people, jumped up started yelling when someone got a hand on it, quickly fell back to my seat when i realized that it had gone on through.....

That was a great game! I heard later that coach Sivert would show that game too the Chiefs as inspiration. Any truth too that? Go Chiefs!(Blue can get the head, We're for the Red)

Come on people! This thread was started to remember great moments in VHS and CHS football. Why make it ugly? True, we have not had a very good season. Regardless of that fact, these are the children of Hawkins County that you are badmouthing. They have all worked very hard and put in many hours on BOTH practice fields. Let's be adults and be good sports whatever the outcome is. As for me, I must say GO FALCONS!!!!:)

When Madonna (cheerleader) did backhand springs the entire length of the court and turned around and smacked her butt to the Falcon fans. I know that's basketball, but it was hysterical!

That was awesome... those feminine acting boys from Volunteer got shown up by Madonna. The place went nuts. This was the same night that Chris West and Ryan Marshall got into an altercation and got ejected. Arlando and Stick went off that night. I remember Josh Bowlin and Sandefur tauntin the Volunteer student section
