This is why we need to help our Volunteer Fire and Rescue Depts. You never know when a disaster will strike close to home and they are the ones we depend on. Thanks all LakeView Volunteer Fire Fighters and Forstry Fighters for putting everything behind you and risking your life and sacrificing your family time to render your services. We pray here in Mooresburg that you stay safe and the fire ends.

Is there any non-fire assistance being given to the firefighters, such as coordinating drinks/water, food, etc.? These people are working very hard and I'm just wondering if they're being given some needed 'TLC'. If not, it might be a good thing to coordinate.

FYI, when I post it comes up that I'm from NC, not so, I live in Mooresburg in the mountains.

What an ass you are!
I don't know what your issue is, but maybe you should get a life. Help, instead of posting hateful messages!

You are an idiot too!
Someone gets on here posting UNCONFIRMED information about 2 firemen dying and you tell je to get a life?

So, this sends a frenzy among the firemens' families who are on here looking for updates.

If this did happened they had no right getting on here and posting it.

Think if your husband was out fighting the fire and you wouldn't find him.

So dumbass...you get a life and for once think of someone else besides yourself!

First, I didn't call you an idiot. Secondly, why couldn't I be the one fighting the fire, not my husband? And third, I am not a 'dumbass' as you state. Also, I HAVE a life and if you read all the messages you will find that I am thinking about someone besides myself - hence the message asking if there is any coordinated effort to provie not only moral support, but water, food, etc. for the firefighters. I will not be lowered to respond to you anymore, so feel free to give it your best shot!

We drove by there Saturday night, and there was so much smoke along 11-W that visibility was bad, and so was air quality. Although we saw very few other cars at the time, there was a bad wreck just at the point where the fire suddenly became visible from the road, but before the smoke took over - probably someone was looking at the fire and not other traffic. I hate to criticize, when it was an awesome, scary spectacle, but we were creeping along, afraid of just that kind of thing. I fear for the homes and businesses in that area, and wonder why I'm not able to find more information online.

You truly can not be this stupid, but you spoke and proved you are. No, you did not call me an idiot. I called you one just like the person who posted the death of 2 firemen. You both bear resemblance, them for posting that crap & you for telling me not to be hateful.

I do have family there. I obviously knew you were not involved with the efforts since you posted about who was providing nutrition to those who were working the previous post. How dare you to even insinuate that you were!!

You have a life, yep, posting on topix telling people to get one! Glad you won't respond any more and make an even bigger fool of yourself.

Think how you would feel if your husband was out there and you hadn't heard from him and some dumbass posted 2 firemen were killed without the actual knowledge of it. That person should be ashamed if themselves as you should too.

All I want to know is where I can get news about the fire. I haven't been able to find anything, which seems impossible, since the fire is so huge and visible for miles around. Everyone I ask knows nothing but what they have read here.

I work at a school, and my some of my students have been reading the stuff that is posted here. Please consider that this is the only source of news for this topic right now for a lot of people - and they are watching.

Could someone please let me know if they have heard anything that can be substantiated, or where I might go for more information?

Other than this in the Kingsport Times we in Rogersville have not had a single report from the news.

http://www.timesnews.net/article/9054217/fire...

It's a crying shame that something that is so big, covering such a large area and possibly endangering so many people is only reported out of Knoxville. My local stations are from Johnson City. Now if a town official were to be seen having a beer in the park it would be all over every station and paper. Note that the lead of the story is not the fire but the suspected dog/chicken fighting operation.

Folks this is serious. Lets put down the swords and sharp remarks and keep this thread alive with updates.

The fire has supposedly been controlled. It doesn't seem as bad today, just going on the smoke. No one has died to my knowledge. Strange how things get started. Praying for everyone involved.

Thanks for the link. Why can't even a local station resist the urge to play up the "hillbilly" image, rather than the real news?

A friend just sent me a message saying that Pine Mountain and Pressman's Home around Hog Lot are now on fire, and that someone in a blue car was seen setting at least one of the fires. This is from two people who live out that way.

Remember that this is unsubstantiated at this point, and if true would not necessarily mean that the original fire is arson.

One of the guys killed was last name of everheart. I was listening to their radio talk and heard them say they needed medical for everheart signal 10

This was not on the main channel but the one they talk to each other on.
If you have one of those family radio things called a FPS. You can listen if you ate close enough. 5-10 miles max

Are there really two dead firemen, and it still hasn't been announced on the news? What am I missing? This is a small town, so why is the information not spreading like (no pun intended) wildfire, as usual?

No one cares because the area is full of white trash and meth heads.
They want it to burn them all out so they can turn it into nice subdivisions for upper class retirees from up north.

The reason they have not scooped up water from Cherokee lake and dropped it on the fire is it would do more environmental damage than the fire and the EPA would fine them for illegal dumping of hazardous substances.

I saw to ambulances coming out of the area with lights and sirens blasting yesterday.
