A Major Drug Bust In East Tennessee

HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn.-- Deputies in Hawkins County make a major drug bust, involving hundreds of pills and a large indoor marijuana operation.

It happened Friday night at a home in the Beach Creek community. Investigators tell us they searched the home of 28 year-old Charles Laing and found several hundred oxycodone pills along with other controlled substances.

They discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation and weapons inside the home. Sheriff Ronnie Lawson believes Laing is responsible for bringing drugs in from other states to sell in Hawkins County. Laing was taken to jail.

Well if the amount of drugs or the several grand with the drugs counts or the stolen weapons count or the pot growing in the back bedroom counts, yeah it helps to get the crap out of the communities. http://www2.tricities.com/news/2011/jun/05/ra...

Maybe. If so, the authorities get to keep the money of course.

That reminds me, Bonnaroo starts on the 9th - this Thursday. Get ready for all the news stories about New Yorkers driving vans on 81 who just happened to make an illegal lane change.

You people kill me one thread is the police don't do this or that. The next one is police wasting gas blah blah blah. Now on this one a big time dope peddler is out of buisness, and it's "huh was that all there was", "gonna be dismissed". What does it take to make you all happy?(I eagerly await the red x's, burned out light bulbs, and what ever else crappy judge marks you give me.)

Let's face it ,the war on drugs in rogersville is being faught, but will not be won by Ronnie Lawson. Or anybody else individually for that matter. This so-called major drug bust of a hundred pills and marijuana isn't really major, nor did Ronnie do it by himself. We can pep rally for or against Ronnie all we want but he won't never totally stop the drug problems around here, nor will he bring jobs here or stop the scandals or corruption. The drug problem is embedded in rogersville! We need to get over ourselves!

I'm glad the drugs are stopped from this guy, but he didn't force anyone to buy that stuff.

Thank you jax, finally a realist. Both sides involved in drug exchange are wrong! Its not like dealers have commercials on tv advertising their goods. Users seek out dealers, they need each other to survive in their "craft". We have to address both sides or we're just going to be putting a bandaid on a cannon ball wound.

If addicts can't make themselves stop you have to cut off the flow of drugs to the addicts. It may have been a small bust but now maybe the pain clinic in Georgia has a new spot light on it's exports to nearby states. No one puts a gun to a drug dealers head when he takes stolen property in trade for drugs either yet it happens every hour in the surrounding counties. Where you have dealers you have addicts coming in day and night with stolen items and stolen guns if they don't have money, so drug dealers contribute to other crimes like burglaries and break ins. If anyone was robbed you may want to check with HCSD for your stuff. http://www.wcrk.com/news/view_pages.asp... If the dealer has kids they're exposed to every type of addict that is allowed to come around. The dealers neighbors didn't ask to have a drug dealer next door either but they got stuck with it against their will. The papers said one of the men arrested was part owner in a pain clinic in Georgia, which doesn't surprise me. Without laws to permanently take away the licenses of doctors who over prescribe addictive pain pills and sedatives for sore muscles to minor hemorrhoids or for money under the table the pills will keep flowing. Ronnie and others are trying to move a mountain but thank God someone is making the attempt to push the drug pushers out. Not doing anything was forcing the public to take matters into their own hands. That usually ends with the wrong people in prison.
