FYI....UGO gets their Meat from the same place as Kroger, Food City, Food Lion, and many other stores. They have in-house butchers and Meat is delivered to them 3-times a week Mon, Wed, Fri. The Meat is always fresh (not delivered pre-packaged like Wal-Mart)it is cut and packaged by their butchers...it is your choice to pay more for the same product elsewhere....As for their can and boxed items, they are not out of date when they are received. If something starts to get close to going out of date the store will sell it for less to move the product....here again it is your choice to purchase or not. The only item that you really have to take a good look at the "sell by" date is one of the breads that they carry..label Pep...Farm. That is the only bread that is "day old" when it is put on the shelf. The other breads are delivered everyday and are fresh.

Just because she is a bad manager does not mean that all the store managers are that way. Personally I have been in alot and I have yet to find a bad manager. As for Jane's store I have never been in there and I know the owners really well so I will be making sure that they see all of this so they know what everyone is saying and to see if they can answer some of your question. I promise you not all of the UGO's are like this one you are talking about.
Then you better tell them that they need to Drug test their employees because i know for a fact the one of their employees Virgina Belivens is on crack.she would fail in a new york minute.thats one of the reasons she has heart trouble too many drugs over a short period of time it affected her heart. she tell you shes was born with this problem thats BULLSHIT i know for a fact shes liying.

shop for lunch at UGO wrote:
I shop for lunchables, ham, turkey, cheese, bread, etc. for my kids lunch. I check the date on every item and only buy what I can use by the use by date. Some items like cheese can go a little past the date and are as good as fresh. Do we not age cheese anyway? The lunches that are served in our schools are not so great and my kids prefer to take their own. I send them better lunches for less than the 1.75 the schools now charge for a sandwich or chicken nuggets.
I do not buy hardly anything that is not on the last isle of the store. I don't like the out of date canned, etc. either when I can do as well by watching sale papers on Sunday.
The potato chips are much cheaper...and taste fresh. Cant say that for some cake frosting i got there; it didnt even HAVE a date on it. And man!!! Did it smell and taste awful!
I shop there some...just watch what you buy. If it has no date at all, leave it sitting there.

Food City and Super Dollar Store chains Have their own meat contracts for their business only. They don't supply UGO...

I shopped at UGO, never had a problem.
When I needed a job, they were hiring and I got it.
I worked for Jane and found her to be an honest hard working woman. I never heard her raise her voice or treat any employee badly. As to any accusation of working off the clock, it never happened while I was there, as-a-matter-of-fact Jane would run me out of there to eat lunch as I would get engrossed in my project and lose track of time. I was on track to go into the management training program and was looking forward to it, but a illness in the family arose and I had to leave. Jane called me several times to see how my son was, and assured me if I came back she would rehire me. Jane Smith is a good and decent person and has done nothing to earn such personal assaults.
As for the company, you can look them up on the internet. They buy overstock from major companys and disburse the products throughout the stores in several states.
I miss Jane and if for any reason UGO closes in Rogersville a great many good and decent people will miss her and the store.

I was in our local UGO Friday (11-20-09) and watched as one of the managers screamed at a cashier and called her horrible names. It is not the first time I have seen this manager acting this way. I asked one of the stockers the managers name and ask for a number to contact a regional manager; I felt like this woman's behavior should be reported and the top manager at this store is a joke so it would not do any good to report it to him. I usually find good deals there, but I am not sure it is worth the side shows !!!

I know exactly what you are talking about, that store is awful. You can tell that most of the employees are on drugs and their behavior in the store, the parking lot, the stock room..........OMG !

Your mouth is spouting out lies (better known as SLANDER). I know for a Fact that Jane at UGO gets better health inspection scores than both Food Citys get. You are the employee no doubt who was fired for stealing or the employee who was fired for being lazy. Jane made you mad because she made you do your job or perhaps she made you
mad because she didn't take your crap. You need to pray to be a better person- perhaps pray to be half the person Jane is. Ugo does not have rotten meat (that's Wal-mart) nor do they have Rats. You are a rat yourself . Jane is the most honest person and nice person I know. She would never ever allow anyone including her family to steal. YOU ARE A PIECE OF TRASH "WHO CARES". Shame on you!!!!!!
whoever thinks Jane Smith is a good manager is on some heavy drugs! She wouldn't know how to be a good manager if it slapped her in her damn face! Have you been in that store lately? They ain't got shit! And obviously "who cares" worked there so they know what goes on in that store. And you would have no clue except for the sugar coating jane dishes out. She would not think twice about throwing any of her co workers under the bus as long as it makes her look good thats all she cares about. UGO would be a good store again if they would get a good manager back in there.

Talking about a piece of trash??Your typing a bunch of crap about the first manager at UGO.I'm disabled and all i would have to do is call him with a list, and he would have it ready for me.He also told me several times about getting a $500 bonus for acing his health inspections. He didnt do anything to you did he?You need to look in the mirror and judge yourself before "UGO" judging other people!!!! Fed-up?? It sounds like you need sum PROZAC!!!!!!

UGO seems to be a little pricey to be selling out-of-date and odd brand stuff. Some of it ain't too good. Some of the stuff just sets there forever.
But some people must be finding bargains there; they have their buggy full of junk!

I used to buy bread there all of the time. It was a dollar a loaf. I'd buy a lot of it & freeze what I wasn't going to use right away. Then it went up to 1.19. That still wasn't too bad. But now it's more expensive than Big Lots bread, so now I go to Big Lots. When I went there for bread I would usually buy a lot of other stuff too. So they lost more than just my bread business. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
