The only good pain clinic is a closed pain clinic. If your regular doctor, that has cared for you for some time, wont prescribe it, the chances are that you DON'T NEED IT. Get used to pain. Spinal biffida occulta! Please, that has no corelation with painfull symptoms! Disk trouble< 80% of WORKING people have the same issue, yet work everyday. Quit whinning, your living off the government as is. You have a free ride, why do you want us to pay for you to get high to!!!!

Reading people criticize others without knowing jack about their condition disgusts me. If you're in pain and need PM therapy, go for it. Don't worry about these stupid posts - you'll have enough of a time convincing your doctor to give you enough meds to make your pain tolerable - mainly because of idiots like "Sick of druggies" and "Possum" who love to cast judgment upon others without the slightest inkling of what they're talking about. Our doctors and governments are so afraid of junkies ruining their own lives that they are severely hampering normal people who need PM to live lives of dignity. "Possum" and "Sick of Druggies" need to try living with daily doses of nearly intolerable pain before running off at the mouth.
OMG..AMEN..you are so right..imgoing to my first pain clinic..i dont know what to expect..ivehad 4 surgerys fir recurring hernias, they put in a 20 by 20 peice of pig skin in..now im trying to use a wound vac that has been take3n off because of complications,.,..so now we are doing the wet to dry twice a day..every time the bandages are taken off it takes a layer of skin off too..my stimach is open and draining it feels like im on fire 24-7..i have nerve damanage, from 13 surgerys.i dont heal well..but my dr. thinks 1 hydro every 6 hours is gonna take away he agony i go through every day since jan.27..i cant take it no more i want to quit suffering..If you think im a bad person for wanting pain relief then the hell with you..Try having my pain for just 5 minutes,i bet you couldn handle it...i try to cope but alot of tears go with this coping and alot of fear every time i see an or ,which i go under the knife again this week..so judge if you must ,but try living my life. I get shots in my back every month because a Dr Screwed up while doing a spinal tap. I also have been referred to a pain clinic because the pain has been going down my right leg for the past three months. I have heard of that spinal block but when I asked my Dr about and said that I was interested he told me that it wouldn't work for me.. WTH.. oh well, I was hoping I could do something that was long term.

The best pain clinic is the employment office after you've been notified that all your "freebies" have been cut out because your only problem is you are lazy.Yeah, yeah, let me hear how YOUR pain is so bad you can't bear it and YOU just wish you could work, and you would NEVER sell your oxys or tabs.I'm tired of working my butt off to feed this trash.

Let me tell you something over it, I do work and what lets me work are the shots that I get in my back so that I am able to move around. I don't get anything for free and you don't pay my bills. I work 8 hours a day 5 days a week 6 if they need me on Saturday, maybe you should look at yourself before you judge other's. It looks to me like you might be talking about yourself. You have no idea what you are talking about and I don't take Oxy's by the way, so you can say whatever you want, you don't know me and I sure don't want to know you!

I have spina-bifidia and nerve damage and partial paralysis in my feet from spinal cord and back surgery and when I came off all the pain killers I got rid of a lot of the pain to. My Dr. told me that too much pain meds will cause you to have pain and he was right I feel a lot better without the pain meds. I still have some pain but deal with it thats just part of life. Also pain meds will cause your kidneys to get bad then you have to do dialysis so its not really worth it if you've seen what a dialysis patient has to go through.

okay I came across this thread and wanted to see what it was about. My husband busted a disc in his back while they were doing training excercises in California. (He has to play He-Man) I think it's a stupid show off tactic for the guys under him, and it makes me angry he would do stuff like that, but I suppose that's what they require him to do being in the Army. His Commanding officer won't let him near pain meds due to the fact he said that once you get them in your system they would create pain you didn't have just so you would feel like you had to have them. He did tell my husband he had to deal with it himself and he didn't want anyone else under him to have to deal with that kind of pain withdrawl. If he has any problems with his back hurting which he does but it's not all the time, he goes to a nurse on the base he's at or he will call his commanding officer to ask him what he should take and how to handle the pain. I just thought I would tell you all what was told to my husband and I know his pain is real too.

i agree with possum.i go to holston medical group and i would like to think they would only give them if you needed them.
it is embrassing now to go to the doctor when you really have something like a bad back.
i took my granddaughter to rogersville hospital because she had fallen. several people were sitting there rubbing their backs and grimacing at the pain. i said to my sister"gosh, how did all these people hurt their backs?" she laughed at me cause i was so behind in the times. she said they are here for painkillers. sure enough, when they went outside to smoke none needed help walking out or walkig back in but as soon as they sat down...oh, the pain.
Just because you can walk and smoke doesn't mean you're not in pain. This is the most ignorant statement I have read or heard all yea!! Hopefully if you ever find yourself dealing w/ persistent chronic pain, people will just assume that you must be a druggie too!!!

Why medicate the pain for years when you can deal with the problem. Pills stop working in time and you always have to go to a higher dose or take a stronger pill. Thousands of people have surgery on their backs or necks and they have no problems with pain afterward. Usually it's a pinched or pressed nerve. Fix the problem either by surgery or several other options and get on with life without becoming some doctors pill popping Jaguar payment.

As a formor law enforcement officer I was working a accident on I-81 in Blountville and was in the median strip when I was hit by a truck. The accidentbroke my right femor, right knee cap, broke my back in 3 places ,7 ribs on the right,3 ribs on the left,3 hernated disc, knocked all the fillings out of my right upper teeth, fractured my skull and colasps both lungs.I know about pain I have been sent to about every doctor in East Tenn, I am now going to Kingsport pain center where I get 8 to 10 shots in my spine and also prescription for pain meds, oxy, tabs relaxors all. Best treatment I have gotten anywhere. They drug test to make sure you take your meds and don't take any illegal drugs.

You are exactly right. I used to judge people like so many here have done. I don't do it anymore. After exhausting every option I had to be pain free--accupuncture, chiropractic, steroid injections, pain meds, I ended up having to have surgery myself and now have to live with pain everyday. It's unfortunate that others have messed everything up for people who actually do have pain, who can no longer get relief.

Do not judge another, you have no idea what they may be going through and it just might come back on you.

Oh my goodness. I hope you are doing better now. At least you are being seen and taken seriuosly for your pain. Anyone who has real pain will take their meds and if you're doing what you're supposed to do then everything is cool.

I Will be honest not all people are addicted to pain meds. There is alot of people that are tho, alot of people I had worked with took them for energy. I hurt my hip while in the army. I fractured my femur head, sense they did not treat the fracture right now the femur head is dieing after 3 years, So i am in alot of pain i get prescribed loratab 500mg once every two weeks.
I still have my prescription but i dont take them unless i need them. My back was killing me the other day i couldnt sleep it was hurting so bad almost in tears i waited to go to the doctor to see what was rong. I got there the first thing the doctor said to me..(First Assist Johnson City) "I am not going to give you any opiates" I said I dont care. I have pain medication. The main thing is because of all the druggies you cant even get help cause the doctors cant trust you untill they have proof. Some people actually have problems. Now the doctors wont even help.

oh to that question. After about 2 and half months my doctor is refering me to a pain clinic, I am guessing cause i havent givin him an answer yet about hip replacment and i will need the pain medication for a while or untill i have this surgery that only last 15 to 20 years. I am having a hard time deciding because i dont know if i wanna loose my leg after i turn 40 they can only do the surgery once. The doctor said he didnt really want to do the surgery because it was intended for older people.

I dont know if this answers your question. I am waiting for a apointment atm for the pain managment clinic. Good luck.
