U took those names rite out of my mouth..Did you know David Gladson..He was my kin Folk..Merless Woods was also a Good Friend of Mine also..
I know how good David was,and Larry Gladson was an athlete no doubt and a friend of mine since I was a kid,I've played basketball with Bill Eidson as a kid and watched him sink 50 free throws in a row....with his eyes closed left and right handed.Merless was also a friend and could hit a far corner jumper in cowboy boots 9 out of ten times, with a cigarette hangin out of his mouth,I'll never forget these guys for taking time out to help me better myself as an athlete and a person.

Anyone ever seen Jimmy Kyle, or Gary Pearson play basketball? Those guys were baskeball players!!!
They could shoot a basketball anywhere on the court, if their been 3 points then, lol wouldn.t be much of a game for the other team. Lots of times seen the Pearson guy shoot from the half line, man could he shoot that ball.

there are/were a lot of 'street players' that could probably beat any Rogersville High school team. Some refused to to play for Johnny in high school. Of course he picked his chosen few to play. I remember the good ole days and agree that Merless, David and Larry were very good players. didn't Merless go to Texas and play for a while? Paul was a very good player, also. Wow, this brings back memories...thanks.

If he couldn't make the grades, how was he able to stay on the team? He wasn't ignorant. And he was a good athlete because he WORKED at it. I will never forget the first time we ever played Cloudland. They were undefeated - that school was all about football. And the first time they got beat was when Chris played on the team. And he wasn't the BIGGEST, either. Check some of the old Rosters, and quit talking with all that "foolishness".
He stayed on the team because his teachers passed him anyways cherokee would do anything to win. I was told he did nothing but sleep thru his classes. He would spend more time in jail than at school......

Did you graduate with him? Um... Probably not... But guess what, I DID. I had a couple of classes with him. And he didn't sleep thru his classes. He did actually try. Now, he may not have been the brightest crayon in the box, but he did put forth an effort. Most of the better athletes don't make that good of grades anyway, but they do make sure they pass. They mainly want sports scholarships, because sports are what they are good at. If Cherokee would have done anything to win, don't you think they would have WON more?

James Rogers was one of those players that could put it down back in the day. What ever happened to good sports players?

anthony was the most dominant, most athletic, best rebounder pretty much best all around player to ever come through rogersville, although ryan lawson is right up there with him.
