sometimes if the house poorly built for example no fire walls in the attic, no fire resistant drywall. And there can be other factors are involved. So dont be to quick to judge.

yes it would. It would say that they were all there and put it out. No one wants to mention that they also saved several other houses and buildings from burning too. but I guess the people that fight fires from behind the screens of their computers could have done better. Thank all of the firefighters that continually risk their lives for other people. They are out in the cold and have not eat their suppers and are still there working. While people like you are talking bad about alot of real good hard working people. Why don't you get up out of your chair and go and take them some water or some food????????

911 was called shortly before my neighbors called & they said the fire dept was on the way. I stepped outside & saw the fire dept roll up, the house was already engulfed. I am so sad for the family, it was the most horrific thing to see happen to anyone. The fire dept down the road is volunteer & they were quick to respond, but there was nothing they could do. Many departments responded. It went up so quickly & was so intense. They did save the house across the street & next door when the wind shifted. Please say a prayer for the family & don't be so quick to judge when you don't have the facts.

I sure hope not a TOTAL LOSS! That would really say something about the fire department right NEXT DOOR.. Prayers are with them. To the person that wrote this comment let me inform you as I type numerous emergency responders and volunteer fireman are still on scene working into the night to help a family in need. These fireman are not paid and the fire departments of Hawkins County only receive a donation from the county. This donation does not even start to cover the cost of running a volunteer department by the time equipment is purchased and insurance fuel and utilities are paid. These volunteers are forced to spend hundreds of hours fundraising to fill the gap. Many of these fireman will work late into the night work a full day at there job tomorrow and be fundraising tomorrow night work the next day and be fundraising the next night etc... This is so when your house catches on fire there is quality equipment to suppress the fire and potentially save a life. If it was not for these fundraisers there would be junk sitting in your yard when your house was on fire. Shut your mouth and support your great local volunteer fire departments. You are welcome to call your local commissioners an ask for additional funding for the local volunteer fire departments they have all asked over the years and been denied.(this year they did get a slight increase not near enough to offset rising fuel cost) Or thoughts and prayers are with this family. Great job to the county departments on there efforts and a great volunteer response time.

I live in that area and that hill was covered with fire trucks from several different departments! I had a scary incident with my heat pump and they were here QUICK and successfully kept my home from catching on fire and I will be eternally greatful for that and I thank God for our" VOLUNTEER" firefighters.

The Volunteer Fire Department in Striggersville is a BUILDING.... NOT PEOPLE. When a call is made the volunteers have to leave their own homes and go to the departments for their trucks then arrive on the scene. It is not like official fire departments who employe their firefighters who sit around the fire houses to answer calls. They use their idle time to keep the equipment clean... cook.. watch tv and sleep. A volunteer fireman is much different. HE IS A VOLUNTEER.. and when a call comes thru HE drops whatever he is doing and goes to answer the call. God bless our volunteer fireman. They volunteer their services giving us their time... and often their lives.

I also want commend the brave men
and women that risk their own lives
for others. It definately takes a special person to sacrifice theirself for another. These people will prosper for their great bravery. I believe people forget how important it is to help these volunteers out. I may not have a lot myself to donate,
but i do know that every little bit helps and adds up. This family may have a total loss, but atleast they are still with us. I don't know these people personally, but, i will mention them to my church friends in bean station. They help out a lot of families there. Again, THANK YOU MEN AND WOMEN FOR YOUR DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT!
