The fire is at 402 West Broadway. I believe that it is owned by a Baily. Used to be owned by Noah Jackson. Broadway is blocked from S. Church St. to Green St.

Please avoid this area as emergency personnel are on the scene. Let's make their job easier for them.

I saw the house fire on Broadway today and I must say I was amazed to see these Firefighters (men and women) working there best to try to save someones house. I watched at a distance to not get in anybodys way. When the fire trucks pulled up and I saw Gary Murrell helping them and as they started trying to put the house out I saw two Firefighters go into the house without a hose and I could not understand why they were doing that intill I heard that they got information that someone may be inside the house and they were going in to do a rescus. My heart sank cause they along with everone there risk there lifes to save save someone else. Thank God no body was hurt. My heart goes out to each and everone of them along with the family that lost a lot of things today.

I was the second person to call this fire in to 911...and let me say I will never forget the sinking feeling when I saw those flames coming from the home. I told the operator that I didn't see any cars in the driveway and prayed no living being was in that home.
I have worried about this family all day...and my prayers will continue to go out to them for some time to come.

Years ago a VERY CLOSE family member of mine had her home pretty much burn to the ground and they weren't sure if my brother was in it asleep and George Henry(b4 he became a police officer) was just a hero and after they figured out my brother was not home yet,(it was late)George, who lived in the same area, went and got a stack of Levi's and shirts FROM HIS CLOSET and gave them to my brother and for that,he will always be a hero in my book. Our local firemen do not get enough credit. They dont just risk their lives fighting fires, their hearts are in it..and I am so thankful for that.

It's very common for houses to rekindle. Materials get hot and smolder, even for days and reignite.

House had metal roof, which meant the heat was held in. Building material between the walls or inthe attic could have been building heat for hours
then finally flamed up.

I think she is very fortunate that she only lost "stuff".

yea its common to rekindle in the same area but not to start where it was never burned to begin with

You obviously have never experienced a house fire. I speak from experience. It is plausible that it can rekindle in different areas, probably more so than in an area that had already burnt.

Heat builds in different locations, under baseboards, between walls and such. It is entirely possible that clothing or building material smoldered for hours before becoming hot enough to ignite. Just because the fire was " put out" doesn't mean that the heat was gone, even in a previously unburnt area.

They obviously had insurance, given the fact that the picture on the website was taken by an agent.
If it is deamed suspicious it will be investigated. I highly doubt based on rekindle alone that suspicion will be raised , & this is from first hand experience.

I would love to be able to make an intelligent response to this, but without punctuation, spelling, or any sense of what you are talking about, well, I just can't.....

Rekindle of a fire is very common. As a fire burns it will give off heat and gasses from the burning materials. It will build up heat in the most unusual places. Inside walls, in furniture, insulation etc.

Take for instance if a round hay bail catches on fire. You hear fire departments get called out more often than not that they need to go back and put the fire out.

It is almost impossible to get to every spark that can be hiding in the aftermath of a fire. Why do you think that after a structure catches on fire and burns very badly. That for several days you can drive by and see a little smoke coming from the building. It is the nature of a structure fire.

Probably the reason so many people are suspicious is that the owners drove up to the fire in a pickup truck with furniture in the back!

rumor has it suspicion would come from the husband that she has try to be it several times and this time it worked. not only that but thier also saying that she was giving stuff away just an hour befor it happened along with taking all of thier important paperwork and putting somewhere away from the home she was on the phone with ins. com befor it was even put out....

It would be interesting to know how metal roofs impact the ability to fight a fire vs. ultimately declaring the house a total loss. If firefighters cannot get through the roof, and more houses are declared total losses because of the hindrance a metal roof represents to firefighters, how does metal roofing impact your insurance rates? Do they jack those rates because its harder to extinguish the fire and more damage is done?
