Wondering

Just got home and had to post this question and comment.

Why do people not move over for vehicles using their emergency flashers.

Was on Hwy 66 S. vehicle came up behind me with the emergency flashers on. I pulled over let it pass then pulled back onto road and continued on. The vehicles in front of me never offered to move over. As I continued on toward home passed Prices Grove Rd. and seen the same vehicle sitting at the trailer park with a fire truck there.

Would these people that ignore these people that volunteer with fire and rescue needed them would thy not want people to let them through so they could assist them.

Just a thought. Now let the bull sh*t comments begin. I know that it will start on this sight.

No this will get the comments flowing: where I come from, you get a ticket if you don't pull off to let emergency vehicles (with flashers on) or funeral processions through. The fire dept would call your plates in from the truck themselves. The police always rode with a funeral.

I like it when women flash me for no specific reason.

Actually, your flashers are to signal a vehicle in distress. You are not to use your flashers while moving. The flashers are not meant to be used like the lights of an emergency vehicle. They are meant to warn other drivers than your vehicle is disabled along the side of the road. Check your drivers handbook.

And I might also add that in "THE BIG CITIES" this is considered a moving violation and subject to a ticket.

Food for thought: In most areas with mountains, truck drivers have to use them when going 20 or more miles below the speed limit.

Why don't these people that are in fire departments and rescue squads use red light on their personal vehicles. That should solve the problem.

I think you are mistaken, you can use your hazard flashers for many things other than to simply signal distress.

- Flashers are very useful if you want to park curbside in the firelane of the grocery store, or park in a handicap space. You will just be in the store for a minute or two anyway, so it is okay to park there for a short time. Activate flashers and this will render your car invisible to the cops, it works on the same principle as the Klingon cloaking device in Star Trek.

- Be sure to use your flashers if you are driving up the interstate in your pickup truck, and your truck is overloaded with twice as much furniture or scrap metal as what the truck was ever designed to haul. Let people know of the danger, that at any time some junk might fall off the back of your truck and into their path.

- It is also a good idea to activate your flashers when you cannot see where you are going. For example, if it is foggy or raining so hard that you cannot see out the windshield, slow down to 20 mph and activate your blinkers. Other people speeding up the freeway at 70mph will see your slow moving vehicle with flashers on, and they will get out of your way.

- If you are late for work, turn on your flashers. This will allow you to drive as fast as you want because people will get out of your way, they will think you are a VIP and you are headed to some emergency event. People who are really, really dumb and easily tricked will pull off on the shoulder and stop so you can pass. Even though you could have just as easily turned on your left turn signal, got in the passing lane, sped up, and passed them just as easily. I mean, that is what the police officers do when they want to pass cars, instead of relying on people to run themselves out of the road onto the shoulder.

- If you are a mugger, come up behind somebody with your blinkers on. And when they pull off onto the shoulder and stop so that you can pass them unhindered and get to your emergency event, you can stop and rob them instead. Works terrific.

I was referring to red lights flashing on emergency vehicles, not personal vehicles.

How about HIGH BEAM HEAD LIGHTS. should these people not be out after twilight. If you have to use your high beams on a 4 lane highway.Blinding oncoming traffic, and the car or truck in front of you Here's your sign. You are a hazard to drivers. Stay at home. Remember when police used to do their job? That was one of the quickest ways to get pulled over. Most people driving with their high beams are impaired.
