Here's a list of the County commissioners who need to be defeated in the 2014 election and why:

District 1
- Dwight Carter, He is loud, abrasive and confrontational. Totally arbitrary. No rhyme or reason to how he votes. His main goal is to stay in office to feed his ego and sense of self importance.
- Syble Vaughan-Trent, completely out of touch, not informed on the issues, but that doesn't stop her from running her mouth. Isn't happy unless she's in a feud. Lets her personal agendas, grudges and feuds influence her voting.

District 2
- B.D. Cradic, Only interested in disgracing the current county mayor and improving the chances that his buddy Dennis Deal gets elected. Completely misinformed on most issues, lacks verbal and cognitive skills to make decisions and participate in an intelligent conversations.
- Fred Castle, Like Cradic struggles to master the English language. Also like cradic he sabotages meetings and votes against certain issues like the budget for the sole purpose of hurting the current mayor so that Deal wins. A toxic influence on the commission, he has a personality like a bucket of broken glass and a gift of making every word he speaks sound like a threat.
- Jeff Barrett, Completely clueless. Another Deal cronie who's goal is to sabotage issues like the budget solely to disgrace the current mayor despite the negative consequences against the county.

District 3
- Danny Alvis, Another one who isn't happy unless he's in a feud. If there is no current feud, he'll create one. His hatred of the school superintendent is pathological. All he brings to the table is the ablity to turn every issue into an ugly confrontation.
- Hubert Neal, his heart is in the right place, but he's just too old to give the job the attention it needs.

District 4
- Virgil Mallett, hopefully he won't run again because he's been a good public servant, but he's just too old. The county needs soem young blood
and new ideas.
Joe McLain, Cast the deciding vote that broke the tie and put Jay Taylor into the Sessions Judge seat. Questionable judgement.

District 5
- Charlie Freeman, Completely motivated by personal and political agendas. He lets a little power go to his head, bullies people he considers suborinates, and has delusions of grandure, but he's just another Good Old Boy who will always put his own interests ahead of what's best for the community.

District 6
- Darrell Gilliam, another Good Old Boy with a limited grasp of the English language who is ill equipped to help the county achieve progress and will always make decisions based on what best serves his own political agendas.

District 7
Charlie Newton, A likeable fellow with a good sense of humor, but it takes more than that to be a good commissioner. He has some strange ideas/beliefs and is generally wrong about EVERYTHING.

Dean and Wheeler are no longer on the commission, so the Taylor Eleven is now the Taylor Nine. I believe McLain will have no chance at reelection since he cast the deciding vote that made a sessions judge out of a predator. Mallett has decided not to run because of health. I believe Neal will not run again because of health. I disagree with the comments about Trent. She is one of the smartest commissioners we have. Perhaps the reason you think she is out of touch is that our misogynistic county mayor won't put women on any significant committees. We don't need anyone else on the commission who is employed by the county or trying to become employed by the county, in my humble opinion.

Danny Alvis is a kung fu master and a hero who has earned my respect and admiration. He destroys all evil and will never be defeated.

According to rumors, a while back Danny was sent from Hong Kong to Rome to help Uncle Wang, and niece Chen Ching-hua, whose restaurant was being targeted by the local mafia. Danny fended off the gangsters and wins Chen's admiration. Danny becomes friends with the other restaurant workers and teaches them "Chinese boxing".

The mafia boss sends a gunman to kill Danny, but Danny defeats him. The boss then goes to the restaurant with armed thugs but Danny defeats them. The boss warns Chen he will have Danny killed if he stays in Rome. Danny refuses to leave. The boss then sends a sniper to kill Danny but fails again. Chen is kidnapped by the boss and compelled to sign the contract at his headquarters, but Danny and his friends rescue her.

The mafia boss's consigliere hires three foreign martial artists, to challenge Danny. Danny defeats two of them with help from his friends near the Colosseum. After Danny leaves, Uncle Wang kills Tony and Jimmy, blaming Danny for getting in his way, as he would receive a large sum of money if he persuaded Chen to sell the restaurant to the mob. Danny then has a final showdown inside the Colosseum with the karate fighter Colt, the best of the hired fighters. Danny defeats Colt and police arrest the mafia boss. Danny then bids farewell to Chen and leaves Rome alone, returning home to Hawkins County for his next adventure.

Vaughan-Trent is very intelligent and can add a lot to the commission. Metz has said he's doing a self-imposed term limit, after one term. A commissioner should do two terms before they sit out. Two consecutive terms should be the lawful limit. Mayor Bailey should do the county a favor and leave. All the bad mayors of the past really owe Bailey a favor. He's made them all look good. Anyone serving more than two terms without a four year break is hurting us. You can't hold an interest for that long without burning out.

the answer is all of them. the reason: having served with the corruption implies an acceptace of it. were any one of them fully against the corruption - as they should be - the one, or ones, would have not only resisted the corrupt practices but would have made them public.

Wierd coincidence: This is also the plot of the 70s karate movie "Return of the Dragon" starring Buce Lee.

That's what I call "a good start".
Wonder what happened to the TBI investigation into the bribery allegations, last reported on by our fine local paper in 2012?

It was dropped as part of Taylor's plea agreement.

I knew Virgil Mallett was coo coo when he said that requiring commissioners to carry I.D. badges to enter places such as schools or EMA disaster zones was:
“Dictatorial on the level of Nazi Germany and Communist Russia."

You know, I've heard that before - but how does Taylor make a deal so that OTHERS aren't prosecuted?
Seems to me that isn't something he had to bargain with.
