My husband and I are interested in making an off on the home located at 313 Old Stage Rd.. This appears to be a fairly nice area compared to some others we have saw. C'mon, give me info.... What are we looking at on this one?

Thanks!

I actually live about 5 min from there. It's like most of Hawkins county area. The majority of the people are good, quiet country people. There's a few houses that are shady just like every neighborhood anymore. The county roads are almost impassible in icy/snowy weather but thats what you get for such low property taxes compared to the rest of the country. The schools aren't the best but they arent the worst- you get what you put into it.
Some people let their animals run unchecked. Some people refuse to clean up their property. If you are a good neighbor- most- people will be good neighbors back. But that's everywhere, not just Hawkins Co.

Living on Old Stage you would be about 10-15 min from downtown Rogersville and 25 min from Kingsport give or take. There are 3-4 churches that I can think of that are right there. The river is just around the corner as is the trash dump.

Are you from this area?

If it is a Stewart built house run like h&ll from it. Horribly built houses and nothing but issues, not to mention almost every house built by them the basement leaks or floods. All around a badly built house, trust me I used to own a Stewart built house. Go knock on some doors in Stewart Landings or Austin Point and ask the homeowners what they think of their house, guarantee all of them will give a bad review. They are nearly impossible to sell too, everyone in this area knows about them and that is why they are so hard to sell. I got lucky and unloaded mine on some yankees that relocated here and did not know the horror stories about a Stewart built house.

Thanks for the feedback... My husband and I currently live in WV, he works in the coal industry.. The economy here is getting worse everyday, we fear a layoff at anytime...

I'd look at jobs before moving. We have as many people out of work as there are working right now. I wouldn't move anywhere until employment is assured. Maybe go rental until you know you will end up somewhere you can get work. Good luck!

Its HAUNTED by a large, baleful, FAT ghost who delights in moaning, groaning, & clanking chains all the time...and is ESPECIALLY snide, sarcastic & hateful. Delights also in making farting & belching noises, grabbing women on the heinie & boobs, & kicking men in the heinie. Smells of B.O. & cigarette smoke.

I bought a Stewart built home on Old Stage and have not had any problems. Since the county now has an inspector that has to approve the houses before sales they can't cut corners like they used to so the more recently built homes are far better than the ones in Stewart Hills and Stewart Landing that were built a few years ago. I would find out how long ago the house was built if it is a Stewert house before I made a decision.

No clue on the meth thing..... Do they not condemn them for meth down there? In WV, they condemn and demolish the structure...

Google Tn assessment page. Choose Hawkins county, put in address... Will show who owned house and all houses on road, surrounding area, what their tax info is ... Blah blah

You can also check the TN drug task force website to check to see where any meth labs are found. Yay! Only one on my street.:(
