Not too many years ago women weren't expected to work. They worked at home cooking, cleaning and taking care of the kids. Now when a woman TRIES to stay at home and do that very thing and her husband is at an income where assistance such as food stamps is needed, she is told"get a job lazy b." Well, there are still many of us who put our children's well-being FIRST!!! Which in our eyes is being raised by parents,,not a daycare or ANYONE else. That ensures stability and security. Our kids may not have as much STUFF like the latest video games and lots of designer clothes, but they have something money can't buy-a feeling of being loved and secure and a routine which is needed for a healthy well-rounded childhood. So you need to know that there are still families out there who get assistance AND a parent who works 40+ hours a week and when done properly a stay-at-home mother's job is hard and never ends!
Stop using your children to justify your choices. You would rather receive assistance than go to work - period. Responsible parents realize that it's THEIR responsibility to provide for their children's needs (financial, emotional, etc.). I hope you do provide a great home for your children but you need to climb down from your pedestal. Being an unemployed mother doesn't make you a better mother.

It ain't pennies buddy. With about as many drawing as paying in ..it's stupid. Every one that is able to work should be working at whatever and whenever to pay their own way and absolutely to pay for the kids they bring into this world. Cut it all out for every able bodied person - male or female. When they get hungry enough they will get motivated - maybe. If not, let them starve. Woman buying MT.Dew yesterday with her card! Food Stamps should be for nutritional products only.

I love my foodstamps. Probably a lil too much. I wish they wouldn't give me so many sometimes so I could lose some much needed weight.Oh & to "clueless" I love my junk food and soda pop!!!!! Also, who are you to try to tell us what we can eat. You are probably one of the parents who slides into McDonald's around 5:30 to take your fat a** kid to get a Big Mac & fries after letting the daycare raise it all day.

It would be nice if, as it's insinuated in this thread, those receiving benefits actually did take care of their kids as boasted! Unfortunately, the majority of the kids aren't getting the attention they need. Most recipients of food stamps have limited education and aren't even capable of assisting their children with homework. By the way, you're just upset because you have to prepare your food in order to make your kid fat. If McDonald's could accept food stamps, I'd hate to see the lines!

Oh here's another pick on Food Stamp people thread. How original. I bet you whined like this as children of someone got a bigger slice of cake than you.

Let's completely ignore other frauds perpetrated by "for profit" companies and individuals, like nursing homes and doctors who defraud Medicare and Medicaid $1.5 billion annually, by billing for unnecessary speech therapists, skin specialists and physical therapy to bedridden patients who are spitting up blood in their last horrifying days.

Because someone shopping at the grocery store with Food Stamps is so much more revolting to petty little people. Better hope to god the person wiping your behind in the nursing home isn't on Food Stamps. That might offend you.

Not picking. I just don't understand the sense of entitlement or pride that seems to accompany the dependence on assistance to survive. I prefer to know that I can make provisions for myself and my children. I don't trust our government enough to depend on it to do it for me. I also take offense to the assumption that working parents are bad parents.

I don't believe Food Stamps should be a part of the Federal Government. I believe the Churchs that recieve Tax Exempt status should pay or the needy. The reason they have Tx Exempt status. No Tax payer money. The food should come from the folks who believe there is a Jesus that requires then to pay 10 percent of their earnings to help the church, which with tax exemptions should be using that to help the poor. As long as there is a Jesus ans a belief in helping others , then there should be no problem.... if the church (tax exemppt) decides to spend their money to elect politicians that are against gay rights, 2nd Amd., ect. the entire reason of tax exemption is not very fair. If you are running our of Food Stamps, do not blame the Government , blame your local church which should be the ones suppling your needs.

Don't think it is the poor or needy that is the real subject here. It is the widespread abuse by the deadbeats that CHOOSE not to work and want a free handout. Food Stamps would not be the financial drain that it currently is if it was only available to those in real need. You don't throw out the baby with the bathwater - but you should have the good sense to know the difference. If the system was fixed to cut the deadbeats out and if the abusers were reported, maybe the poor and needy could be better cared for.

I think people need to mind their own business! Why work when you can make more money setting on your butt? The system is set up so the poor person can never get ahead, nor succeed at anything. I would rather enjoy my family, and my life while I am young, instead of working my butt off for nothing. You can't find a job around here, that is worth a crap, and it takes money to move. So I believe I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing until the Government fixes the mess, that THEY got us in to. The greed of this Nation will be our downfall...And you rich...ungodly hypocrites can keep judging the unfortunate...soon you will be poor also...

What got us in this mess in the first place...are the crooks on Wall Street, and all of the "bail outs". When our President can spend 2 billion on just living expenses at the White House, while most Americans have lost their retirement, 401k, and pensions, and have to be on WELFARE, to feed their family, then we have a spending problem. This THE PLAN...Done away with the gold Reserve in the 70s, and now just printing money out of thin air, and have nothing to back it up with. Now who is the bigger crook?

Yea...I agree! That's all our Government thinks about, is helping countries that hate us. It doesn't make any sense.

How's about creating decent Jobs for the American people. Instead of McDonalds, and Burger King. It is easy for our Government to hand out...because it is just printed money, and nothing to back it up. Heck why not give each poor American, 2 million dollars, and let them invest into their future, and create a business that can sustain them! After all...it's just paper, that they are printing, and giving to these Muslims, that want to see you and I DEAD....

Just reading thru this thread explains the problem. Mainly just lazy people and entitled government that is completely unaccountable. The target is the few working people who are being trashed and robbed at every level.
