I try not to get involved in politics, but found this interesting. Just for the record, I am not Dem or Repub, I am a citizen of the good ole USofA and darn proud of it!

TEACHER SLAMS OBAMA

April 17, 2009
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington , DC 20500

Mr. Obama:

I have had it with you and your administration, sir. Your conduct on your recent trip overseas has convinced me that you are not an adequate representative of the United States of America collectively or of me personally.
You are so obsessed with appeasing the Europeans and the Muslim world that you have abdicated the responsibilities of the President of the United States of America . You are responsible to the citizens of the United States .. You are not responsible to the peoples of any other country on earth.
I personally resent that you go around the world apologizing for the United States telling Europeans that we are arrogant and do not care about their status in the world. Sir, what do you think the First World War and the Second World War were all about if not the consideration of the peoples of Europe ? Are you brain dead? What do you think the Marshall Plan was all about? Do you not understand or know the history of the 20th century?
Where do you get off telling a Muslim country that the United States does not consider itself a Christian country? Have you not read the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution of the United States ? This country was founded on Judeo-Christian ethics and the principles governing this country, at least until you came along, come directly from this heritage. Do you not understand this?

Your bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia is an affront to all Americans. Our President does not bow down to anyone, let alone the king of Saudi Arabia . You don’t show Great Britain , our best and one of our oldest allies, the respect they deserve yet you bow down to the king of Saudi Arabia . How dare you, sir! How dare you!
You can’t find the time to visit the graves of our greatest generation because you don’t want to offend the Germans but make time to visit a mosque in Turkey . You offended our dead and every veteran when you give the Germans more respect than the people who saved the German people from themselves. What’s the matter with you?
I am convinced that you and the members of your administration have the historical and intellectual depth of a mud puddle and should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you.
You are so self-righteously offended by the big bankers and the American automobile manufacturers yet do nothing about the real thieves in this situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelic, the Fannie Mae bonuses, and the Freddie Mac bonuses. What do you intend to do about them? Anything? I seriously doubt it.
What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses to their staff members – on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay raises that lawmakers gave themselves? I understand the average House aide got a 17% bonus. I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my employer. You haven’t said anything about that. Who authorized that? I surely didn’t!
Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210 million in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 million more than the AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already been awarded $51 million – not a bad take. Who authorized that and why haven’t you expressed your outrage at this group who are largely responsible for the economic mess we have right now.
I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and not caring about what you idiots do.
We are watching what you are doing and we are getting increasingly fed up with all of you.
I also want you to know that I personally find just about everything you do and say to be offensive to every one of my sensibilities.
I promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not get a chance to spend two terms destroying my beautiful country.
Sincerely,
Every real American
P.S. I rarely ask that emails be 'passed around'...PLEASE SEND THIS TO YOUR EMAIL LIST...it's past time for all Americans to wake up!

No, it wasn't. Obviously Bush never bowed to any Saudi king. The letter is not completely accurate though. The teacher at the bottom was contacted and she did not write it.

All you need to teach grade school is a bachelors degree and a license/certificate. That doesn't automatically make you an expert in foreign policy.

People that don't know very much usually have all the answers, because it doesn't take much smarts to find something to complain about. Maybe she's just upset that Obama gave everybody else checks and not her?

You are correct that Bush held the hands of the King, which in their culture signifies that they are equals. You see, men in many foreign cultures do not have the homophobia we do. It is as acceptable for men to hold hands as it is for women to brush each other's hair, and no one questions their masculinity. They are simple more secure in their identity, whereas in the US there is always a fear that one's sexual identity is unstable and may be lost at any moment, as if homosexuality is a cold you can catch.

Bowing is a different matter. That is submission to the authority and supremacy of the king, and a pledge of obedience.

Bu11cr4p. Where is that written? Bowing can just as well be a sign of respect and acknowledgment of tradition.
I could just as easily write that a man opening a door for a woman is a submission to authority and supremacy of the female, and a pledge of obedience. That doesn't make it true.
A previous poster had it correct, too many people think they know so much about international politics, and they run their mouths, forge letters like this one obviously is and try to scare other weak minded people into obedience. Smarten up East Tn, aren't you tired of the rest of the country laughing at you?

The significance of bowing in middle eastern culture is not open for debate or interpretation, it has been established for several thousand years now.

As the historian Herodotus wrote 2500 years ago, "When Persians meet one another in the roads, you can see whether those who meet are of equal rank. For instead of greeting by words, they kiss each other on the mouth; but, if one of them is inferior to the other, they kiss one another on the cheeks. Yet, if one is of much less noble rank than the other, he bows before him and worships him."

Bowing is not just a sign of obedience in their culture, it is an acceptance that their leader is appointed as an emissary of god or of the gods, or even an avatar.

You can claim anything you like. Opening a door for women is considered an act of chivalry. To some modernists it is considered an insult, hearkening to a paternalistic framework and suggesting the woman is incapable of taking care of herself. It depends on her culture. There is no historical or cultural context though for interpreting a man opening a door for a woman to be an act of submission. In fact, during periods in which door opening activities were most favored was also when women were most expected culturally to be submissive to men. In other words, although it is your right to make any assertion you please, your claims regarding door opening being submissive are without historical or cultural merit. On the other hand, the meaning of bowing in the middle east is very clearly defined and there are no questions about it, it is a well defined cultural practice.

Spiked,Why do you continue to be some sort of strange, bizzare apologist for Obama's idiot actions? Face it.....the dummy bowed like some sort of submissive fool to the king of Saudi Arabia. You can take a turd, shape it into a rose and even spary rose scented perfume on it but it will still be a turd. No amount of your apologist behaviour will change Obama making the United States look like fools to the rest of the world.

Hope This Helps!!!

In that link, snopes doesn't claim the letter was untrue, only that it was incorrectly attributed to the wrong person.

Regardless of who wrote it, it's spot on.

Oh please obama. I don't need to make the US look like a fool to the rest of the world. You and your previous holy leader have already done such a wonderful job of that, you can never be topped. Someone just claimed a 2500 year old tradition should be applied to every act today - I guess that means the theater actors bowing at the end of every show think the audience is their king? Give me a break - foolishness at its finest.

First off, I'll concede that the "bowing incident" doesn't merit all the attention it got. A faux pas, to be sure.
Each country has its' customs and laws, however, and for whatever reason the Messiahs' handlers totally screwed that one up, for bowing in that country is a signal of subservience - which a president should never do to another countrys' leaders.

Amateur hour in full display again for the Messiah, sure, but not a biggie in the grand scheme of things.

Of bigger importance, on that particular Messiah World Apologizing Tour, IS that he went around slamming the US in country after country.
See, I really don't think Obama likes the US. He sure spends a lot of time talking it down, apologizing for it and dismantling it, piece by piece.

THAT is a problem, especially in a sitting president.
