It’s almost as if Republicans are actively striving to get a reputation for being mean to poor, hungry people. On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the administration of Gov. Tom Corbett plans to start restricting eligibility to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as the food stamp program). Specifically, the state is imposing an “asset test” — anyone under 60 years old with savings of more than $2,000 is no longer eligible for assistance.

You just don't understand! The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program aka food stamps is a Federal program in the United States Department of Agriculture budget. All rules and all regulations are federal. All of them! The states get administive fees for distributing the assistance thru their welfare departments but it is under strict federal guild lines. Very strict and heavily audited. The states get no input in how it is run, neither Republican nor Democrat states. The governor name being mention is strictly politics. Dirty politics. Bet if he was a Democrat, it wouldn't have been mentioned at all!
So your headline is all wrong. It should be why did Obama made this change. It is a federal administration decision.
However, anytime, any government program is not funded as requested and no matter how wasteful the program is or how well funded it is, cuts are always made where it hurts the people the most and anyone who voted against the excessive spending is then blamed. So since the program is more than well funded, the blame should be only the Obama Administration!
Just review the amount budgeted and the past budgets. Now you may apologize.

The Democrats love the poor because they are creating so many of them. The poor are worse off and more numerous in number, while the top 1% are better off than ever under the current Dem administration. Those stats are right out of Washington.

and the principals this nation was founded on and supporting the current president and his administration cannot be done at the same time. Everything that is happening right now is undermining the constitution of this country. Common sense is not respected or required in their world. Nancy and Harry don't even sound sane. To not see this has to mean that people are just supernaturally blinded. It defies logic. God Help Us because no one on this planet can.

I grow tired of this partisan crap.

Democrats say: We are Superman! Here to save you from the Republican villains who live for hurting and oppressing others! Vote for us! They are gun-toting jerks! They hate Black people and other minorities! We are the poor man's party.

Republicans say: We are Jesus! We are the moral party! The Democrats are anti-God! They are there to take your Guns and Bible away! They want to kill the unborn! We are the party for Christ!

I typically vote Republican because their stances are generally closer to mine. But this pointing fingers from both parties is getting a bit ridiculous, which is why I am becoming more and more leery about personally identifying with one.
