Tanker truck overturns on I-94 near Albertville

A tanker truck has overturned on Interstate 94 near Albertville, spilling fuel onto the roadway and shutting down traffic in both directions.

As a commercial driver, I see stupid people all the time. This driver tried to make an illegal U-Turn on a freeway. What part of that sign don't you understand. If you miss your exit, you drive to the next one. What was the driver's excuse for causing this accident????

The irony of this tragedy is that AFTER this accident happened I saw multiple drivers--in an attempt to avoid the delays--making illegal U-turns into 70+mph traffic. Nuts!

Glad the Truck Driver is okay, and made a good dicision-truck and trailor can be replaced, you can not! I hope that after seeing the pictures, that people will think twice about doing illegal Uturns, as well as other ignorant driving habbits. I am so darn glad that the jerks making the u turn got tagged, at least, by the tanker before it rolled. I saw the car on WCCO 4 website, what looks like a Buick Roadmaster wagon, white. The semi tagged it on the rear right side smashing it pretty good. If he hadn't rendered it mechanically unable to be driven away we would have never seen the jwerk and his family, which ruined the Sunday of 10,000 of thousands heading home from the weekend. The darn freeway has been closed for over 7 hours to to this one particular jerk driver. Luckily, as we can all be thankful for, no one was killed.

Hey Minnesota Highway Patrol and Courts-sentence the U-Turn driver to 500 hours of public service such as going around to schools and defensive driving groups saying how dangerous and D-U-M-B it is to drive STUPID. I can't wait to follow this story more as the name of the driver is released. How bout a cage match with the DUMB driver and the semi driver. I'd pay big bucks to see that!

I can bet anything the driver of the illegal u-turn vehicle was some old fart. The type of car involved in the accident is usually driven by the old people and i have seem numereous times old farts taking illegal u-turns.

Last weekend I had a police officer do an illegal u-turn in front of me outside of Isanti. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid him. All of this just so he could catch the speeder in front of me.

I should have called 911 to report the idiot driver who made an illegal u-turn.

Thankfully I didn't hit him.

I saw some kid try to make one in Coon Rapids. Luckily there was a Cop in the other lanes and just pulled over and waited for him to pull out. The kid knew he was so caught it was awesome!!!!

We were coming back from Fargo tonight and got caught in the traffic. It sucked big time.

All the reason we should return to having public floggings. Get these dirt bags from Missouri on the steps of the Capitol and about 5,000 of us will crowd the capitol mall to see them get their due. Then hopefully the truck driver and the state sue them and their insurance company for everything they have to reimburse the taxpayers for this. Then hopefully no insurance company will ever let these people drive again.

cops have that right. how do you know that car didn't match a description of a bank robbery, or other felony crime.

The reason for more people driving like idiots is because of the mandatory seat belt law! Takes an officer 10-15 minutes to write a ticket!

I hit this area @ 12:30, what a mess. I've been working in Iowa for the past few months and have to say "Driving in Minnesota is the worst" the people need to learn respect for other drivers and use common sense behind the wheel. Semi trucks can stop like a normal vehicle but why do pepole keep playing chicken with them. I seen a comment "truckers are dumb", you should remember how the products you consume everyday get to the store your purchasing it from. I don't agree with the might be charged, they made an illegal turn and should not only be charged should be paying for the cleanup! After driving the route I take weekly it's amazing there aren't more accidents on the roads today. People "LEARN HOW TO DRIVE".
