What chance does a small independently owned business like this pharmacy have anymore? Absolutely no chance. The "big bullies" have taken over--forever.

We can all thank the Obama administration for this one. Way to go helping out the small business owners.

I came to work for Thrifty white as the pharmacy department head 33 years ago this month. They were known as Snyder Drug then. I enjoyed working with all the great ladies... Phyllis Johnson, Rovada Monty, Margaret Brown and others. They were always very kind to me and were wonderful role models of hard working women and mothers and grandmothers. Longtime Hastings residents will recall that Iverson's Drug was there prior to Snyder's and Thrifty White. No doubt the unfriendly small business climate has played a large role in the closing, but another key factor was when the ownership of the shopping center astronomically raised the rent on Midtown Food Center grocery store, forcing them out of business and knocking the Midtown area merchants to their knees at the same time. The space was empty for about two years, until the Salvation Army thrift store opened in November of 2010. chip Grosenick and Jeff Lindoo were two favorite pharmacist managers and Martha Majeski was a lovely pharmacist who worked part time. Great memories. Sad that the doors are closing.

Hello- I am Rovada's granddaughter. I would love to hear stories about her. What she was like, what she did at work.
