He was in a crosswalk.
He had the right of way.

Jeez, talk about blaming the victim.

The Vallejo police often have sting operations at crosswalks with decoy pedestrians. If the pedestrian is one foot into the crosswalk and the driver proceeds without yielding, they will be issued a ticket. The driver was at fault.

While the pedestrian always has the right of way, what ever happened to the stop look both ways and cross when it's clear? Seems when people heeded that method instead of the "I'm crossing, hit me and I sue" there were alot less people getting hit.

I have encountered peds that seem to think they are invincible when they are in the street, crosswalk or not. I agree that you have to look out for yourself whenever or wherever in the roadway you are.

ENGLISH is the official language of the United States. Cops don't need to speak spanish, or french, or german or arabic or any other language.

I have heard many native-born English speakers unable to speak the language properly. You, for example, should have used "who" rather than "that."
The man was injured. Heaven help you if you are ever injured while in a foreign country...

While I agree with you, the reality is that over the last decade the Latino population has increased to almost 25% of Vallejo's population. Many of these people are relativley new to this country and their command of English is minimal.

Therefore like any good business or organization, you need to better serve your customer needs in order to be effective and their need is to have bi-lingual police/fire/ambulence personnel. It is just a reality.

Yo Puffmama, you need to take a reading comprehension course. Read the article again...

'....may have been in the crosswalk at the corner of Amador Street....'

It says he 'may have been in the crosswalk' it doesn't say he 'was' in the crosswalk. At Amador & Tennesee there is a stoplight. He does not have the right of way if he is in the crosswalk and has a red light.

He was probably being combative because he is an illegal alien and he thought he was going to be deported.

If we cater to the illegals we will only get more illegals. We need to start deporting them as fast as possible or watch the detioration of our once great country.

Again, I agree with you but the reality is American businesses want illegals to come here. It is American business who see the great benefits of paying low wages, no unions, no payroll taxes to shoulder, no employee complaints about working conditions and long hours,no paying health benefits or pensions.

Businesses in the Ag.Industry, clothing, retail, hotel, construction and any labor intensive field want these illegals here. It is about PROFITS for these companies.

This is not just Republicans or Democrats who are to blame, it is all about greed , money and lobbyists who are supported by these business interests.

These business interests/lobbyists/politician s will always stop any serious action to be taken against illegal immigration. So, "se habla Espanol?".

sorry, bt if you are crossing the street and don't bother to look both ways you are essentially putting your life in the hands of a driver whom may not be paying attention, for whatever reasons, to what he/she is doing behind the wheel of their car. i tell me 14 year old when he's crossing streets to get eye contact with drivers before stepping out. I do the same

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Taurus

Everything seems to be getting under your skin at the moment, but this is no excuse to lose your temper, and you know it. Better by far to be discreet and plough on steadily, without looking to the left or right. If you keep your feet on the ground and don't get discouraged, there are definitely fair winds that will blow you along. It's just a question of finding the right balance between confidence and commonsense.
