This is from my personal experience. First, I have been stopped many times in Mount Vernon, TX and given warnings for minor things such as license plate light being out or having my car searched because it smells like fabric softner. Anyway, recently I received a speeding ticket, in which I am 200% sure I was not speeding however, the fact that I have a car with chrome rims, seems to have been the motivation for me being stopped. Regardless, I decided to fight the ticket, because I was sure that the officer would not be able to provide anything showing me speeding, as he did not. However, he must have been a good friend of Paul J. Lovier, the justice of the peace, or this maybe a scam they run on a regular basis, because he judged in favor of the officer, who provided no evidence. Paul J. Lovier even stated in court that it was just the officer's word against mine, and they had no physical or hard evidence to prove that I was speeding. I am making sure that I let as many people as possible know about the crooked system of Mount Vernon, TX and the very ugly Paul J. Lovier. If you have an eye-catching vehicle, your chances of getting pulled over in Mount Vernon, TX are very likely and you will never win a court case with Paul J. Lovier as the jp, because he takes the officers word over yours!!!!!!

I have never commented on any forum, however, I would like to comment about Paul Lovier. I have known the Lovier family for many years and Paul is one of the most honest men I have ever met. He does not react to being bullied and acts in a very Christian way. He is very slow to anger and does what he truly belives is right. I am sorry for your inncident, and to let you know, I drive a bright red vehicle with chrome wheels.

I, too, have known Paul Lovier for many years (34) and trust his legal judgement. I have NEVER seen Judge Lovier purpously make an improper call. I would never want a position like his; one that makes enemies with most decisions you make. Most of us couldn't handle it.

You needed real proof that you WERE NOT speeding. The officers are sworn to uphold the law and their word always carries more weight in the absence of evidence. ALWAYS!!!! Sorry, about the ticket. Maybe his radar was not calibrated. You would have had to have to pay to find out before the hearing. Next time ~

Mt. Vernon will treat you like that if your not from around the area. They are better than everyone else you know. It is a very tight group if you know what I mean. Just pay the ticket and try not to cause much of a stink about it. It's a typical small town and they are right you are wrong. Most of them grew up together anyway.

Lots of inbreeding in these parts. Or pollution from pesticides or coal byproducts or something. Because just look at all the women with moles all over their faces. Caramba. Small towns around here don't believe in separation of church and state. As long as the church is theirs.

One is innocent until proven guilty.
Essentially, the burden of proof was on the officer, not the person cited.
If what the poster stated was true, the JP was in the wrong and yes, he/she was profiled.

You know if you don't want people of color at your Sonic restaurant post a sign or at least have the Nuts to approach us and let us know! My sister and I sat at your place of business for over 10 minutes watching others served who arrived after us. I wondered why the no one ever answered the call or approached us. We were totally ignored! I don't like spending my money where it is not appreciated.
I volunteered to serve God and Country for 20 years. I am a Gulf War veteran and I got more respect in Saudi than I did in your town! NOT! Pray that God never send his wrath on you or your families. One bad apple don't spoil the whole lot but it sure left a lasting impression on me to NEVER stop in your town for anything! Thank God, changes are happening where it matters and it sure isn't at the Sonic!

Sulphur Springs is no better. I think all cops pull you over for stupid crap. They have to have probable cause to pull you over so they drive 80 mph and run up your azz to try to make you nervous and drive over a line--then bang, they got you for failing to maintain a single lane. They use crap like that in order to try their best to stroke you for something else. Cody Sanders is DPS and he pulls crap like that in Hopkins County too. It is a dang shame that in this day and time with all the advancement in technology that we can't subject law enforcement school candidates to some sort of test to weed out the guys that are taking these cop jobs because they think it will give them respect. Granted, there are a few that are really good and understand what it is to "protect and serve." But the good ones have to work 500% harder to make up the the azzholes that just simply enjoy the power they have and enjoy messing with people.

Do Not Speed in Hopkins County! Especially on I30. They will get you every time (from Saltillo to Greenville).
And yes, Mount Vernon is bad about pulling over flashy or unknown vehicles.. they apparently have a horrible drug problem down there. It's not like the good ol' days anymore.

DPS is not as selective as it once was in their hiring process, that's how they are getting all the bad apples.
