I know we're all thinking different things hear, but there was time that no one would rat out the others, no matter what............So, if times have changed so much did these guys really think they could get away with their crimes,

Either Ganim is brilliant or you Bridgeporters are stupid. He somehow picked your very pockets to line his own and yet you thank him for it. Ganim did well by picking Bridgeport as a political base- low IQ electorate and a lot of cool opportunities to steal.
Somehow, you don't realize that you could get a mayor who is both competent AND honest. I guess that's true in theory. Perhaps those who are competent and honest would politely decline opportunities for public service in Bridgeport.
As for those of who you whine about Rowland, there are reasons why he got a lighter sentence, including his cooperation. However, there would be no tear in my eye if Rowland got the same amount of time. "What about Rowland?" is not checkmate, folks.

What is so intelligent about that response? Explain yourself. That's truly comical. So many people with so many negative responses against Mayor Joe Ganim. It's easy to talk HOT AIR and not do a thing to help the City of Bridgeport as Mayor Ganim did. Of course, easy to judge someone who has done so much for the City of Bridgeport in development. Most of you with the negative feedback are the one's that sit back and not to a damn thing to help the City. Let's sit back and dish out negativity, sure that'll help the City of Bridgeport. Maybe some of you would like to get off from sitting in front of the TV watching Oprah or Ellen and put your constructive criticsm to work!!! I laugh everytime I read some of these "make no sense" comments.

Ganim, was a self serving crooked weasel. He did zilch, zero, zip, nada, for the people of BPT.He was out 100% for himself. He cut grass, and planted flowers-and gave us a mill rate of 66.For 10 yrs he raped this town.He lived like a king, taking money, wine, suits, free travel, and hotels. His arrogance was his downfall in the end-he refused to plead guilty, when caught. Now he's got to 'pay the fiddler'

Rowland never "cooperated", he plead guilty to one count of the fed indictment. Ganim gambled by going to trial and lost- hence the 10 yr prison sentence. Rowland should have gotten at least 3-5 years, but the federal judges can now ignore sentencing guidelines. Judge Dorsey let him off with a year. Dont worry, I'm sure Ganim will have job opportunities--apparently Jarjura's City of Waterbury likes candidates with federal prison time of their resume.

SNL, having worked with abused persons, the language set you use to define Ganim is similar. "Yes, sometimes he hit me, but sometimes he would bring me flowers. Please don't put him in jail!" It's a sad thing when you hear a woman say that, but psychologically explainable. It is inexplicable for Bridgeporters to defend Ganim. SNL, what did you do to help out in Bridgeport? When I was watching Ellen, were you out planning the Barnum Festival? Sweeping Stratford Avenue? Buying investment-grade wines?(Hey- that suit Ganim was wearing in the video- definitely Men's Wearhouse- You're gonna love the way he looks when he gets out.)

TOTALLY INSANE- making a plea deal is indeed cooperating. You don't need a law degree to know that. All you need is a television and an episode of Law and Order to illustrate that point. But I do agree with you on one thing, TOTALLY, Ganim would get elected again if he were out today. Because Bridgeporters are stupid.

SNL, let me turn it back on you: is it possible to have a mayor "who has done so much for the City of Bridgeport in development" as you put it... who won't ENGAGE IN A MASSIVE EFFORT TO STEAL AND ENRICH HIMSELF IN THE PROCESS? Gee whiz, the guy had everything going for him, he just got arrogant and greedy.

Proud Bridgeporter resident I served six years in the Council with Finch Fabrizi and Ganim. When a mayor or anyone keeps awarding contracts to the same folks you know there is some shit going on, no matter how much they keep the council in the dark. When a mayor keeps awarding contracts without going through a bidding process one really know real sserious shit is going on. As for Joe Ganim getting re-elected? It's possible but a long shot. Why would the Democratic party take such a chance. Now remember this, Judge Paul Ganim is one of the people next in line. If Paul was to get elected as Mayor, I would not be as worried as I was when Joe was in office. Paul Ganim has seen first hand jthe impact that Joe's conviction has done to His Dad, Mom and Joes wife and children. Paul Ganim would never do what Joe has been convicted off. I believed that had none of this happened Joe Ganim would have been Governor and Paul Ganim would have then been endorsed and won the Bridgeport Mayoral seat. In the last election process Finch was chosen over Paul Ganim only for fear of Chris Caruso's political strenght.
I still say that Paul Ganim would have been a better choice than Bill Finch.

Grimaldi's a lucky guy.He did his bit in the Federal camp, got out ,and he's got a job writing for a local paper.Ganim,by his arrogant "I'm innocent" act, bought himself 9 yrs,by refusing a plea deal.Yet he still whines, cries, and using daddy's deep pockets, keeps filing appeal after appeal.....

OMG... FINALLY... someone who understands it all.... someone who saw first hand the ins and outs of politics in Bridgeport, yes, I agree with you Joel, Paul Ganim was defintely a better choice for Mayor than Finch. PAUL GANIM for Mayor.
