They are never going to get a handle on the drug problem here because they ignore it and pretend like it isn't happening.

News Flash, I don't think there is a city anywhere in a America that can claim victory over the drug war. Rockwall is no different than any other suburb in a major metro area. There is no conspiracy here to hide the drug problem. The police are well aware of drugs in Rockwall. There is only so much a police department can do with the resources they have. Posting statistics is great for getting the word out but what are you going to do as a citizen to help solve the problem?

Well the School District isn't doing anything about it, if there are drug busts at the High School(s) on a continuous basis.

So we ought to start there. I guess that the programs in place are not enough (DFYIT) or need expansion or some other technique. The initiative needs to start with the schools.

It starts at home. Parents need to step up and know what their children are doing. Don't blame the police or the schools. If they are doing drugs at school it is because the parents did not pay attention. You see all these kids home alone with nothing to do...it is no wonder that they start to get in trouble and begin using drugs. If you are going to have children, be a parent!

You can not be serious!! Your kids can leave the house clean and someone can give them something at school. How do you control that? It takes the Parents, School and Police to all control the drug problem. It is ignorant to think it is only the parent. You can't be at school with them.

Duh...wake up you are on drugs. You control it by teaching your kids not to accept it in the first place. Get a clue and take some responsibility. It takes a lot of work to raise a child and many just dont put in the time. Parents create self dignity and self respect which is the number one deterrent to drugs. If that child is left alone and feels unappreciated or unloved by their parents they are much more likely to start using drugs. Schools are designed to educate children, police are employed to enforce the laws. The parents are the parents and need to step up. Blaming everyone else is stupid.

I-30 is a major drug route. That's why you see so much seized. Been like that for at least the 20+ years I've lived here.

Rockwall Zoo is correct. I-30 is a major drug route however if you stop and think about it, most of the "drug busts" that occur along I-30 in Rockwall are people that are passing thru never itending to stop here. Perhaps the local law enforcement here could divert some of the resources away from this enforcement and utilize it elsewhere in the community where we have a real growing drug problem.

Everyone has to play a part in fixing the drug problem. Parents need to teach their kids right from wrong. The school district and the community can help but it really needs to start at home. Also people without kids think this isn't their problem but guess what - If you live here, you pay taxes to support the jails and the law enforcement that has to go out and clean this mess up so yes single people you have a stake in solving the drug problem too!!!!

They busted 9 Meth labs this year, and this year is not over. There is significant amount of drugs being manufactured here.

I'm not sure if anything has changed now but about 4 years ago the big spot for getting whatever the kids wanted was Pier 419. That was the same year a teen was so strung out he caught himself on fire while several of the kids that hung out at pier 419 watched.

Good old Lake (Fake) Pointe Church. Come hear the word and smoke some dope. What a great program!

Wow Topix has reached a new low! Now people are going to start attacking churches on this site. Why stop a Lakepointe? Churches are made up of people from the community where they live. If the community has a drug problem, it's in the church too. All that being said, churches offer support, hope, and encouragement which is more than I can say for the people posting on this site right now!!!!

We pick on Fake Pointe as thats the gathering area for all of the county problems. All the elected go there, all the police go there, the newspaper owners, the school districts folks, the entire Republican Party. If there was any other church that controlled what goes on in this county like Fake Pointe, we would pick on it. But there is not.

You need to be hit by a train Matt Scott. You go to Fake Pointe too. I hope you and Betty Sue or whatever the old lady is from Rowlett whom you fight with continues as I get a fit out of it every single day. After hearing you at city council meetings several times, I think the old lady has more brains then you. All I have heard to talk about at Rockwall City Council meetings is yourself and patting yourself on the back. And your website is sad. I did better with a cheap two dollar Go Daddy website and hold a dozen pages. Yours looks like a high schooler did it.

Now that's about the most ignorant statement I've ever heard around here! First of all the entire Republican party does NOT attend Lakepointe and neither do all of our elected officials. Lakepointe church has never endorsed any political candidate and never will. There are members of Lakepointe church that have run for office (as have members of other churches) but the church has NEVER campaigned or endorsed these people. You have crossed the line when you start attacking a church because of who attends it! You've obviously never spent any time at Lakepointe or you would quickly find that there is nothing fake about Lakepointe.

Well, this has been an interesting, if typically depressing, thread to read. It starts by outlining the how bad the drug problem is in Rockwall, then blames the local newspaper(s) for not reporting it, then shifts into the usual name calling and political innuendos which are so standard on this particular (Rockwall) forum. Now, siuddenly, someone has identified some Skull and Bones, Masons, Nostradamus type conspiracy group at a local church for the city's problems. Of course! It is all the church's fault! Way to pick an easy (and likely wrong) target for a scapegoat for the community's ills!
Living in Greenville, I don't read the Rockwall papers on any regular basis, with the exception of the Herald-Banner. As far as I am aware, they are owned by the same folks as the Herald-Banner in Greenville, which is a corporation in Alabama, although it is conceivable they could regularly travel to Rockwall to attend church and therefore be part of the "conspiracy". As to why none of the papers don't publish more stories about the drug problem, I can give you three infinitely more logivsl possibilities: 1) Limited resources, aa some small town papers only have one or two reporters, if that many, to cover all the stories out there, 2) Every city in America, large or small has a big drug problem. It is hardly breaking news. How often do you see Dallas drug stories on the front page of the Morning News? and 3) Maybe they would if you politely let them know you would like to see more such stories. They are in the business of selling papers and maybe you could convince them that is what their readers want, instead of blaming shadow governments in local churches.

I mean "logical" possibilities, I tend to write lots of typos when I am puncturing hot air balloons.

You know, "Local Dude" is an interesting character.

If you take the numeric values of his name (i.e.- L = the 12th letter in the alphabet, O= the 15th letter, C=the 3rd letter, etc.) and add them up it comes to 77.

But we all know that less is more, right?

So then if you change the value for each integer by one less, but then add one more integer placement to the whole equation, you get the number 666.

Obviously this guy's in on it!

(And it was right there in front of us the whole time!)
