Well if it doesn't its too bad that it will STILL reflect negatively on them.

Oh, but it does have something to do with the mayor!!!!! The mayor is the one who appoints the board members to the Rockwall Housing Authority. Also, if RHA or NuRock request any type of zoning or variance change to accommodate the build site, city council can intervene and prevent this crap from coming to Rockwall. I live very close to this area and will not support the mayor ever again if he doesn't start to stand up in opposition.

Sounds like the DC Denial game has come to Rockwall...city council looking for someone else to blame this on...it should never happen.... Our schools are overloaded as it is... In the long run the tax revenue will not outweigh the cost!!

It has nothing to do with the color of anyones skin color Michelle. The company NUROCK has a poor reputation with maintaining their property. Not everything has to be about racism!!!!

I agree that this development would likely devalue surrounding properties. I am most concerned about letting a landlord like this into our community. Look at these links. The Nurock representative told the city council that these were just isolated situations that had been corrected. I don't buy that. There are too many complaints about different issues that indicate a pattern of mismanagement.

Rockwall already has plenty of affordable housing. I afford it just fine. For these that cannot. Not Welcome. See you at the meeting tomorrow night.

Just to be sure people are aware, it looks like this issue has simply moved a mile down the road, and onto the property at Airport road about a half mile west of 3549. Is it still an issue that Rockwall citizens are willing to speak up about?

I oppose section 8 housing assistance on principle:

"To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical." -- Thomas Jefferson

Anybody that can't afford rent/housing should move in with relatives, it's not my problem that people refuse to work for their own welfare or blow their money on booze and cigs.

Bringing this back to life...so my WHITE mother loses her WHITE Husband this year (since so many people are bringing race up)...after using the small amount of insurance she received to pay off his debt, she now finds herself left with mortgage, car, and other bills... Going from a 2 person income to a 1 person income can be very trying and near impossible, depending on your career.

We should not be so quick to judge people. Yes, there are many people who take advantage of these programs, but there are also some who just need it to survive. My mother doesn't do drugs, smoke, drink...she works FT, teaches sunday school at her church, and keeps her grandchildren as often as possible and people continue to judge... what a world.
