So what! They need something to do while waiting on a fire to put out <could be any of our homes.> It’s a gruesome job anyway. Just setting there just waiting on a community tragedy to occur. Like a funeral mortician just waiting on someone to croak. How about giving some attaboys to these men?

How are they going to put the fire out if they are in mid game? Can't leave the cash on the table in the city building.

Why does it bother you that a friendly game of cards is going ANYWHERE in town. That department put in OVER 6,000 man hours in the community in 2011 so far. Not just in fire calls and medical emergencies but, welcome homes to service men, funeral details, hanging flags, fire prevention week at the grade schools and day cares, cleaning up areas of town after storms and before the festival, etc. And all but 3 are VOLUNTEERS! They get nothing but a thank-you and a small stipend at the end of the year for their time. Enough said. I'll climb back off my soapbox. P.S. Help or be quiet.

dirt, i kinda agree with you, but they need to find something legal, if the town marshal or police catches wind of this he SHOULD take action, now having said that, we will see corruption in it's glory. i hope not, but.......

but let me say this, the FD doesn't get enough praise, which they do deserve. thanks FD for all your services.

Several of the volunteers and a paid guys on the fire dept are also police. Imagine that! Not to mention the new council member who is there all the time!

what's wrong with calling out public officials for wrong doing? and why would you want to know who concern may be? sounds like a person doing the right thing shouldn't be ridiculed, one should be appreciated! i'm just sayin'.

could someone be tryin' to justify their participation in illegal activity? i don't know, you tell me.

It is time for a city wide "house-cleaning". There have been the same families in city jobs for years giving jobs to their offspring and on and on. These people are slackers and need to move on to "real" jobs where they really have to do something. Why does the fire chief need a fire car? He is a mooch and needs to quit using the city funds for his personal business. The only reason he has this job is his daddy. The fire dept. is a bunch of overweight dummies that like to act important because they have a blue light on their 4 wheel drive pick-up. Clean Clinton up before it's too late.

Gerri...i agree that there needs to be some house cleaning and yes the chief does have his job cuz of Daddy...its not who ya know..its who ya b**w. Maybe...just maybe the new mayor will see the light and make some changes..but i doubt it in the fire department. I don't understand how the current fire chief continues to be chief, i thought that an organization like that would elect every year and that the same person couldn't continue to hold office year after year.
I think its just an accompishment getting a new police chief.

Cities work differently. FD doesn't elect their chief. It's appointed by the mayor, every year.
Chris has been appointed by 4 different mayors now, for what it's worth.

It don't seem to be any different with Mayor Gilfoy either. That group seems to be out of control if they are gambling in the firehouse. The citizens of this community need to stand up and be heard..we are the tax payers that are in jeopardy.
