why arent truckers allowed to make mistakes. The only thing hurt here was his pride. Give him a break.
Thank you Mr. out of work trucker for showing some class and sharing some common sense because it appears several people on this post are lacking. I happen know Freddie personally and he's a really nice guy. It is not only a common opinion that Freddy is a professional and skilled driver but I am confident that his record proves this. It's unfortunate that people choose to lift themselves up by kicking someone when they're down. Or "up" in Freddy's case. Luv ya Freddie !

Truckers are the second worse drivers in the world, right behind women.

The article clearly says the dump body was up and that he drove 3/4 of mile as such. Damn, if I have too much ice or snow build up on my tires I notice a wobble, how the hell did he not notice a dump body up in the air?

How many DOT workers does it take to remove a sign form a post??? At least 150 from what I saw on the highway today. I think that every DOT worker in the state was standing around helping to watch the sign removed from the post today. I never in my life seen so many DOT dump trucks, pick up trucks, cranes and flat beds in one place as I saw today. Don't these guys have something to do besides stand around an accident scene and watch clean up operation?

this just goes under duhhhhh. i mean you drive this truck that far and dont look in your mirrors? all you had to do is look in any mirror and would have noticed, whats wrong with this picture.im surprised there isnt some alarm or light telling you its still in the upright position. imagine the cost of this will be to the company who ownes the truck,

They even had the DOC inmates standing around watching today. I saw the state van and trailer with the inmates that pick up trash in their tans standing there smoking cigarettes.

The article DOES say:
"The truck's dump body flew up and became entangled in the highway sign..." (actually that's within the photo caption). It does not say he forgot to lower it, as someone else stated here.
Mitchell, 62, of Garden Street in Hartford, apparently forgot one key step, state police said.
"When it left the construction site and re-entered the highway, the dump body was upright," said Trooper William Tate, a state police spokesman. "For obvious reasons, that's wrong."

It's idiots like you that stop, look and cause more accidents. Next time keep driving, talking on your cell phone and let the State Troopers do their job.

Amazing how strong the signs are. The truck doesnt appear to be damaged at all. Driver of the truck needs some time off at the minimum, thank god no one was hurt.
