Billionaire businessman helped GOP take back Senate

Full story: Newsday

In the end, it was Malcolm Smith 's BlackBerry that did him in. Businessman Thomas Golisano, upset over tax and spending increases in the state budget, had journeyed to the Capitol in April to share with the Senate majority leader what he says were $1 billion worth of ideas for trimming costs.

Beautiful. A template for all the state legislatures in the country.

Wow, an out of state resident has blatantly bought control of New York's senate. That's pretty amazing.

"Marvelous" that ANY BILLIONAIRE like Tom G. can walk into
the NYState senate in Albany and TAKE IT OVER!

NYState voters should forgaddaboudit even bothering to vote
for the CORRUPT WUSSES & FRATBRATS in Albany who go along with any billionaire-rigged coup that comes along.

It's more than clear that those guys are SCOUNDRELS who put NYState voters LAST.

Great news for the taxpayers of NY. Bad news for the lazy minority/union lobby groups and Limo Liberals who want to suck the money out of our paychecks to pay for more social programs. Can't wait for our blind, dumb, cocaine sniffing, wife cheatin, governor to be defeated next year!

Gotta love Golisano. He calls them as he sees them:
"The governor used drugs - what do you want from me?" Golisano asked, referring to Gov. David A. Paterson's acknowledgment last year that he had tried cocaine and marijuana in his youth. "Half of Albany is under indictment."

And Citizen Action/LI Progressive Coalition. What a bunch of self-loathing dilettantes. Golisano saved Long Island; even Newsrag admits it.

Let's not forget, Golisano bankrolled the Dem takeover and when those Dems failed to make good on their promises, he pulled the rug out from under the charlatans.

Let's hope he takes his revenge on Mackay and WF by bankrolling a ban on 3rd party endorsements!

As Dillinger said " I rob banks because thats where the money is." The N Y legislature is the peoples bank and our rep.'s are the new Dillingers. Where else can you make yourself, family and friends rich by robbing the same bank over and over again. Public servants for sale is nothing new to N Y they go where the money is.

You forgot to mention that Billinaire Soros bought Washington and the whole country is going into big government spending and putting us in debt for many, many years to come. Someone has to control the liberal socialists.

It was Willie Sutton that made the statement you referred to, not John Dillinger...

Thomas Golisano is having his Bloomberg moment

Newsday's coverage of the recent events in the Senate reminds me how biased and lousy this paper is. Headlines on the first day cried out "cuckoo". Today Golisano is an "angry billionaire" and a "billionaire vagabond". Newsday gives voice to a "Citizen Action" member, who is no doubt a CSEA member or a recipient of public aid, who plants the seed that Golisano "bought our democracy". It's pretty clear where Newsday stands on the Malcom Smith ouster.

Tom Golisano is a hero. I applaud his concern for the future of NY. Don't stop at the Senate, Tom, help us get rid of Assembly Leader Sheldon Silver, the most vile self-interested politician NY has seen since Tammany Hall. Unless Silver goes, NY will never survive.

Politicians can be bought? I am shocked! Who's Judith & why is her quote important? Albany is like a flea market where our democracy is constantly bought & sold.

the Bloomberg moment was great. a bit of a Corzine moment too, except with b a l l s
