I ate there once about 8 years ago.

$12-15 for a mediocre chicken dinner was a bit pricey. Though their house salad dressing was pretty good.

Havent tried the new place yet...any reviews to be offered???

My folks had one of their first dates at Ray-Nors in about 1951. Our family dined there many times in the 1960s. We would order take out too!I remember Ray and Nora, and I think there were two Rays. Back then the waitresses had to be black to emulate the deep south. I also remember the green bathrooms and the pink soap powder! It brings back a lot of memories. I live in FL now.

There was another location of Raynor's out in Suffolk Co. It looked like the same ownership and food. I don't know if that location closed.

The tree growing in the middle of the restaurant was always fascinating to me as a kid. I ate there with my parents all through my teens and 20s. When I would visit my parents in Island Park, I would always bring them the take-out. No one ever made fritters like that!

Is there any way someone might be able to get the recipe for the salad dressing?

The family that ran Raynor's closed the restaurant because the rent and taxes became astronomical.

We were just talking about it too. By the way, the one out in Northport was Linck's Log Cabin.
By the way the chicken pot pies were good too!

The place closed because of illegal drugs being sold by the principals.

When the place was sold about 16 years ago the new owner changed the recipe for the dressing and the Maryland Chicken.

A Greek place is there now..

I happen to have known the owners since I was a little girl. My mother's best friend. The place was not closed because of drugs, the place was closed because Rosemarie and Joseph died. They did not change a thing as far as recipes go, because they wanted it to stay original. Anyone out there have that salad dressing recipe or know where to find it?

I, too, would love the salad dressing recipe. After we moved from nassau to Suffolk, we'd buy it by the case!
Junior high school had split session and my friend and i would have to pass the restaurant about 5:30 pm on our way home from second session. Oh, the aroma.

I too grew up going to Raynors. The biscuits & salad dressing- to die for. I now live in God awful Westchester and they have nothing to compare. If anyone can get the salad dressing recipe...PLEASE pass it along.

I grew up in Freeport when Ray and Nora owned the restaurant. Need the recipe for the chicken batter and the salad dressing. We will miss this fine old establishment.
