My husband (Phil Fahringer) and I grew up in the area and are hearing horror stories
about the Sandy damage in East Rockaway, especially Bay Park. Does anyone have
any info or pix?

To the people who say ER is Ghetto, you are way off. I live in ER for 6 years and it is no way near Ghetto. It is a charming village with landscaping that is well groomed with kind & friendly neighbors. Please get a reality check and do some research of neighborhoods. It now looks like something out of WWII and I pray that God will help everyone to recover from such disaster. P.S. A neighborhood who has over 2 fire depts, there own post office, Library, a marina, police patrol, and a charming church (Nazarene), Pool, tennis court for residence in ER, not to mention many activites for the youth and schools only ER kids attend
that are extremely active I wld not call GHETTO !!!!

I still live in ER and the community is working together in cleaning up and making ER look as it always has which was something out of a Thomas kinkade painting. As for Ugly kids, sorry haven't spotted any ! Most look like the kids from a Ralph Lauren Fashion show. By the way, ER has there own Roller Camp and guess wht? There will be an episode of "Cake Boss" airing this month filmed in ER, yes, Buddy was here.... So much for Ghetto!!

Pay no attention to the anonymous posters who call East Rockaway a white trash trailer park with stench from the sewerage plant fouling the air 24/7 and the jets into JFK dumping fuel and human waste on our heads as anyone who lives in East Rock knows this is pure propoganda.
I agree, drive through Bay Park and you fell like you are in quaint Cape Cod with well kept homes, manicured lawns, the cutest little houses on Long Island and a whole bunch of really great people.
