Is Summerville's Closing down? I went looking for a part for my truck last week and it is almost completely empty and there weren't but a couple of folks there running the place.
Anyone know if they are closing?

I don't know about them closing, but I believe Johnny's in a little trouble.

I guess after they took all the stolen cars they were parting out it didn't leave much to pick from. It always seemed a little odd to me that the place always had whatever you needed and if they didn't, they could always get it within a short amount if time, I guess long enough for them to steal the vehicle you needed a part for.

His grand son Chris Dawson and johnnys wife Tina Summerville are running the junkyard now and it's running better than ever. The reason you see fewer people working there is because they let go a few of the staff because they were lazy and not doing their jobs and allowing parts to walk out without documenting the sale of the item. Chris and Tina run it the right way and every time something is sold they document it.

When Johnny got in trouble the junkyard was not full of stolen cars, the reason the junkyard slimmed down is most of the cars were older and customers were needing newer parts so they crushed them and then BOUGHT CARS LEGALLY FROM AN AUCTION to replace them.

Yarbourghs goes empty very often as well, that's how you make money in the salvage business.

The old cars that were in the junkyard are what made the junkyard, you can go to any salvage yard and pick up newer parts, but to people restoring a classic car, there are alot of parts that are not reproduced, making them highly sought after. Johnny was smart enough to realize that, while other scrap yards were crushing their old stuff, he was still buying and hoarding them away.
The difference in yarbrough's going empty, is that they quickly fill back up, Summervilles looks like a desert waste land now.

Johnny had quite a junk yard. The name has gotten bigger now with all of the publicity. It is a prime opprotunity to grow the business if the right people are in place. I wish them well and good luck.

Merry Christmas. I wish Santa would bring Johnny"Airplane" home. For any or all who waste their time speculating on a "Master" please expect the unexpected, public records show he sold loricet to a GBI and many recorded cd's from the wire ROBERT CATES wore around speaks of rc trying to sell Johnny 25 or 50 stolen mustangs but, Johnny never would even look at them let a lone buy them. He is honorable he admitted the laws he did break and wouldn't make5 other families have to suffer the nonsense as we!

You know what?I believe you.The reason is that I know a man who wanted to off his car a few years ago and have it just vanish so he could report it as stolen and have the insurance pay for it there by keeping his credit rating good.He tried to "give"it to Johnny for free just to have it gone but Johnny told him that he would not take a chance on having stolen goods found on his yard. The man finally let his car be repossessed.I have often wondered if Johnny had changed or was set up.

WFE are you both that stupid? How do you think he made it so long in the stolen car business? He got by with it becaus he used his head. But the Feds are a little bit smarter. They will wait as long as they have to. Think about it. How did they know what houses to go to to get the stolen cars from? Just because he's your dad, uncle, brother, or friend doesn't make him innocent. He is guilty.

Misunderstanding criminals by thinking they are stupid is a huge error with anyone. They do not get where they are by being dumb. However, it usually is something small that gets them caught. It took years for him to get caught this was not a short investigation. I'm quite sure his famiy misses him. However, he did buy stolen cars and sell them. I watched a neighbors vehicle get taken by the Feds and the neighbor said he knew it was stolen when he bought it from Johnny.

The Summerville's are good people who got caught up in a bad situation. So for the people who don't know what they are talking about (your opinion doesn't matter anyway) Thank you Miss Rockmart for standing up for good people. Love It!
