I was in a store the other day and saw this girl on the phone. Besides looking like an addict, she was typical. Joking and talking about 'hooking up' a few minutes later I witnessed someone approach her and express their sympathy concerning the recent death of her toddler son. She then acted(very poorly) as if she was in terrible grief. It made me sick to my stomach. I later heard more about the death and was even more outraged. She needs prison or death for such gross neglect. Anybody else have thoughts on this?

The distance from her house to the scene where the little guy drowned was almost a 1/4 mile if not more, not to mention it was rough terrain and had a pasture in between that had very tall weeds. This would be quite difficult for an adult to navigate much less a small child, It is clearly obvious this woman had no care in the world as to the whereabouts of her child. Oh and before everyone jumps on the "let's hate on Firefighter" bandwagon, I have 3 small children, a 6 year old daughter, a 3 year old son (who could destroy a junkyard) and a 5 month old daughter so yes I know all too well how quickly children can take off. Workers on scene said she showed no sign of being upset and CPR wasn't even attempted even though 911 was trying to get her to do it, she stated she had been looking for him for hours then decided to check swimming pools and then she found him. So yes this needs to be investigated much further especially if she doesn't turn on the grieving act unless someone reminds her to.

Yeah, I heard she wasn't even the one that found him (although when she tells the story she was right behind him) He was what, 2 years old? and had already ran off like this 3 times...the time before this they found him a mile from his house. It's obvious she cares NOTHING for her kids. I mean...I could understand a toddler getting outside unnoticed but seriously...how can he get a mile away unnoticed. I say toss her ass in jail and throw away the key.

I'm sorry but a 3yo is NOT going to walk that far without someone seeing him. Someone would see that baby walking down the road. If that was my baby I wouldn't be able to fuction muchless being at a store talking on a cell phone.I really pray Rockmart doesn't take this likely and do something to her and find justice for this poor sweet baby. They are so many people out their that want's a baby so bad and their is people like her killing them..

And if this pool is properly enclosed how would a child so young be able to open a gate by himself?

Does this woman have more children? I sure hope they have taken them out of her custody or take them from her soon. Sounds like she doesn't deserve to be a mother & have custody of her children.
On the other hand I will say that I heard he did wonder away from the house quite often and they had been looking for him for about an hour when he was found in the pool. Kids do like to be outside & explore but at this age he should not have been outside alone especially if he had been doing this lately and Pea Ridge Road is a very busy road that he could have very easily been hit by a car also if he wondered into the road. It is a terrible situation. Some people shouldn't have kids!!

Do you newspeople ever ask any questions or just merely report what info you're shoveled?

I can't speak for all reporters..but yes, I ask questions and a lot of questions. However, many times, the answers especially in a case like this, are not forthcoming until an investigation is complete. In that respect, I want to allow law enforcement the ability to do its job. I realize many people are impatient about justice in such a case as this, because a young life left this earth way too soon, but as a reporter, it's important not to jump to conclusions or print things that aren't substantiated by reports and evidence. Right now, those reports and evidence are not public because it is part of an investigation. Once the investigation is complete, we will report on the facts.

Thank you for being patient and reporting the correct information, too many other local news reporter wanna be's grab their info by pestering the shit out of public safety or hanging around on the scene until they can sneak a picture and then go and print what someones cousins momma said that they saw on facebook.

I appreciate that as well but lack of info has been misleading. Still a horrible tragedy!!! I'm sure the homeowners are distraught.

All i got to say is I miss those babies so much!!!!! And she don't know how to tell the truth about this very sad situation .She thinks she is not at fault for this tragedy so she has called fox5 news to come to her house so she can tell her story which is probably a big lie. Cause she has changed her story a few times to me. In my heart I know she is the cause of that sweet baby not being here with us anymore! so make sure you toon in to channel 5. Im not sure the time. I will always love and miss you so much my sweet ANGEL! love ur aunt.

And some of us heard it on our scanner as it was happening and don't care who reported it first. What surprises me is that this pool is enclosed in a tall fence. Folks keep harping on the mother, but I doubt this little one got that fence open by himself. The homeowners must be held accountable too. It's just a sad situation all round and a precious little boy how lives with the angels.

The pool is indeed enclosed, and that little one would not have been able to open that gate unless it was already unsecured.
