This program is a joke. Someone really needs to take it over and make some changes. Really...

I see some of the girls games when I'm there watching the boys. It's always sorta sad to see how bad they get beat but its been that way for years. The girls teams have never been real good, not basketball anyways. The girls softball team is a real good program. Always real competitive and the kids seem to really be driven.

.

Jeff Hulsey should be tied up a d forced to watch Middle School Girls basketball until he's forced to change coaches. She is a terrible coach. She says nothing during the game while sitting on the bench. The other coaches on other teams stand the entire game and coach. I'm not sure what she does. We have one play, it appears. We pass the ball inbounds, dribble to half court, stop dribbling and allow the opposing team to trap. The girls look lost on the court with no direction from the coach. It's sad, pathetic and embarrassing. Our kids, our community and the sport of basketball deserve better.

What I meant by Jeff is rec basketball. They don't play real competitive basketball and it shows as the move to middle school. Rockmart school admins need to make a change.

You can definitely thank that program for all the walks, double-dribbles, and carries. I've never seen a ref call one. You can thank our school and their athletic director for the poor decisions regarding the middle school team. Most of the girls from rec don't even want to play for this coach. That's how we lose our children - this program should be growing instead if shrinking.

Who are these girls that should be playing? Most of the female athletes I know from the middle school live softball all year long. I have been to couple of games and the girls lack fundmental skills that cannot be taught during the season. Girls at Model and Armuchee live basketball all year long and their softball programs are weak as Rockmart's basketball programs. Rockmart needs a travel basketball team like softball and baseball. They need better coaching at an earlier age. I understand Luke has been helping at practice and he has been successful as bb coach as well as we all know excellent softball coach.

Coach Luke would be a great start (if he were the coach)- it definitely wouldn't hurt! These girls need a strong leader that motivates them... they look so defeated. The Rec program would also be a good place to make some changes - it needs to start there. I understand allowing a small amount of walking with the 5 year olds but a 10 year old should have it called on them.

the number one problem in youth sports is coaching. The one's that do are volunteer's,you work with what you have.In other areas you have a great base to choose from.I personally saw 24 youth girls come out for basketball and not one parent would volunteer. So your next choice is just to pick anyone you can to fill a spot.felon or not,So if you know the sport volunteer? If not DONT TALK ABOUT THE ONE THAT DOES HER BEST.

Coach Worley plays favorites and the ones she has cannot play basketball. She has had chances to have some really good players but chose to keep
the same players which could not perform well. She has made her bed so to speak, how many years of her sorry coaching is it going to take for someone
to remove her as coach???????? THis 2012-2013 year could of been different. At try outs she egnored girls who's teachers and members of the community could tell you these girls played way better than her favorites she kept.Lets just hope Coach Wiggly at the high school picks team players for their talent.

One of the girls that tried out for this Rockmart Middle school team attended a basketball camp sponsored by a WNBA team and was named the MVP player. Coach Worley passed her over . That should tell someone she needs to be replaced.

I'm sure April is doing the best she can , If you are so worried why don't you volunteer to spend your afternoons and nights for free ? Instead of griping go help and make a diference in the childrens lives instead of a bad example.

Do like quitbitchen said , you go volunteer your time everyday.April does a lot for the kids in Rockmart in all sports from the girls softball , basketball and wrestling. Do you volunteer in any of the programs ? And if your child has your attitude it's probably a good thing she isn't. " No man ever stood so tall as when he stoops to help a child " I did 7 years in the rec league football as a coach and 7 years in Little league as a coach and it's easy to throw stones from the outside so take step to the inside and help once in a while. Parents outnumber the coach's by more than 10 to 1 , go make a difference.

JUST SAYING !!!!!

As far as rec ball goes in ANY sport.........
You can bitch and moan about it if you aren't doing anything yourself! If you think you can do better than what you see out there then get off your ass, sign up, VOLUNTEER and make a difference! PERIOD!

The volunteersa that do rec. basketball are the most wonderful and giving people.I think these programs should enclude older children. Because if a child does not make the basketball team in their high school, there is not anywhere in Rockmart for those children to play basketball on a team. Everyone should give a call to the rec dept and see if a program for this could be implemented. If enough people call it hopefully would make a difference
