RaceTrac will be a great asset to our city. Lower prices at the pump more convenient offerings like a Quik Trip. Why do you think the city wouldn’t let Wal-Mart sell gas. The answer is Politics. Why don't Rockmart have a chain drug store (Politics) the Smith's and their good friends the mayor and council will not let too many folks in town. If new retailers come to town lower prices better selection a favorite saying of my idol Clark Howard, the consumer wins you, me and Clark the consumer. Think about.

They want me to support Polk but the fools around here decide to go shopping or lunch, put a note on the door and lock up.

Rockmart is still small town that will never change. Collard is correct, it's not what you know.....it's WHO you know.

Perhaps some fools don't look at (or can't see through their glasses) the HOURS POSTED ON THE DOOR so the proprietor must give the illiterates a little help by adding a note along with a sign indicating the return time (also indicated in the HOURS POSTED ON THE DOOR). Hours are also posted in all ads.

Like when certain folks fought the daycare over there by the mayor's house?

Yep, heard a certain drugstore and hardware store tried to fight Wal-Mart but I guess they found out just how much pull they have!

Who's the idiot? I don't recall ever seeing a business post hours including times for lunch! And I know for a fact that I've busted my rear to get to a place before they closed and got there to find they had closed early (for whatever reason). And I know for a fact someone who DID own a business wouldn't worry about being there to open on time. I don't call anywhere to make sure they'll be open; I just expect Ingle's to be open or Wal-Mart to be open when their hours say they will barring any unfortunate situations.

Really, maybe you can point out the ads that have the time in which the store will be closed so the owner can go shopping. I have seen plenty of these stores just close anytime they want. Nothing consistant.

I know if hours are posted they need to be adhered to. However, how do you know the owner went shopping? Perhaps he/she man's the store alone and an emergency came up? Just trying to be fair. I understand some restaurants, if there is NO business for a considerable amount of time, they close as it's costing them megabucks to keep people/equipment going.

I've seen notes on doors from time to time saying "be back in" whatever length of time. Do they think I'm standing around waiting for them to get back? I do know one said "went to get lunch" how about bringing it with you or some could stand to do without it. Just sayin if you want MY business you need to be open. If I leave I go somewhere else. Don't know about the shopping, you'll have to ask the chief that one. I also know that if I come in and you don't have nothing in stock I want, I'll find it somewhere else and go back there next time. None of this ordering crap. I can order it myself and probably save $$$ ta boot.

Why is that the way it should be? Small business has the advantage of offering personal service but do they use it? Survival of the fittest. There are a few that make Rockmart proud, and ironically I don't think the owners are from here.
