I love any of the girls at split endz next to house of china. They are very good and up to date on all the newest colors and styles. They also have feathers :) I personally use Brittany Forsyth, she does great and also has a spray tan booth.

My thoughts exactly, saying Linda Campbell is the best in Rockmart is discounting all the other stylists in this town under 70 years of age.

Try N Style, Split Ends, New Generations. Bree Purser Brown's hair always looks amazing, color and cut I believe her mom does it but I do not know who that is. Good Luck.

Shear Illusions has some good stylists and a lot of people seem to like the new shop behind Pizza Depot, a younger lady who used to be at SI. I cannot recall her name.

Halie Akins she is the best always on time very sweet and does exactly what u want. And I never hve to wait. Iv been to other stylist in this area who when I hve made an appt I still had to wait at least 45 min to an hr. Or when calling to making an appt either she would never return my call or it would a week latter.

She didn't say she was 70. What she said was that they stylist was good if she was doing a 70 y/o's hair....read it again.

NO ONE in Polk Co (or Floyd 4 that matter) has ever been able 2 cut/style/color my hair properly. I have thick, curly hair. That's not uncommon right? Every time I go 2 a salon here I swear I feel like an alien. I always explain my hair type before I book an appt & they always say, "Oh that's no problem @ all!" It seems like if your hair isn't straight & you have no desire 2 go blonde or put streaks on your head they don't know what 2 do w/ you. I have tried 14 stylists (Seriously) w/ no luck. I've had a couple stylists just "give up" halfway through in an "OMG this is taking 4ever!" kind of way & then rush & get sloppy. This is why I call ahead & warn you! I tip 35% or more bc I know my hair is a massive job so please stop making me FEEL like a burden. Out of all 14 stylists NO 1 has ever "checked their work" on me unless asked. I can say this though, none of these stylists have ever been rude to me & the majority behave professionally. I truly wanted someone local (hence why I went thru 14 salons) & I still do, but sadly I've never left happy (or w/ dry, non-crunchy hair). & it's not that alot of them don't try, they DO, it just feels like curly or ethnic hair is unfamiliar territory 2 them. I currently drive to Atlanta 2 Chris Nicholson Salon (there's 1 in Kennesaw 2). The atmosphere is amazing, it's extremely professional & the best part? There are no kids running around screaming so I actually get relax & ENJOY being pampered. For a full cut, color & style I pay about $150. & bc a good haircut goes a long way I only go 2x a year or so (roots aren't as noticeable on curly hair). But if your a local stylist & you think your the 1 who could break my Polk/Floyd Co Stylist Curse, just tell me the salon name & I'll give you a call.

I am right there with you. It is not just Polk county but a lot of stylists have no idea what to do with curly or enthic hair. I dont know that it is their fault because hair school teaches you enough to just get by and pass your state boards. They have to want to work with non blonde non straight no streaked hair.
Check out www.naturallycurly.com . I have used Deva salons in ATL, Miss Jessies, Curltopia in Smyrna and like you said, you might pay more but it is worth it the end.

Thanks! I'd heard of Curltopia but couldn't find enough references to feel comfortable going such a distance for a hair cut. And I agree, I certainly don't want to dog Georgia Northwestern (aka Coosa Valley Tech) bc it's a good school on the whole, but I swear they don't give these stylists the education they deserve & that goes for Vogue Beauty School as well. It's like you said, they teach the bare minimum so they're able to pass. & it does suck bc those are the only local styling schools. & that's not to say that some stylists here don't further their learning after graduation it's just I have yet 2 discover some1 who knew what 2 do w/ mine.

I used to live in Atlanta and even your top Van Michael, Aveda concept and Salon 313 salons still might not know how to do "different" hair. They have to want to continue with all the ongoing education out there. A good stylist will learn color other than domestic lines offered, go to classes and keep up with all aspects of the hair business. I like Jordan Scott salon in Cartersville, Dede Clint or Karla.

I tried to book once at Jordan Scott Salon but whomever was trying to get me scheduled acted like she would need to set aside 4 hours for me and that it would have to be scheduled in 6 weeks from the day I called. I just gave up & never scheduled.

Understandable. I really cannot reccommend anyone local for you for your hair type. Good luck.
