I am on the trails everyday running or biking.. I have a problem with asshole mtn bikers and asshole horse people and I ride my mtn bike when not running.. please NO green horses on the trails that are afraid of people, they are dangerous and shouldn't be on public grounds and also if the trail is tight with poison oak am not moving into it to get of your way(if theres foom I will) you can ride through the poison oak being up on your horse, some of these horse people won't budge, well then it's time to spook or spank the horse to throw them :)! and for the mtn bikers that come around blind corners downhill doing 30 plus miles an hour I have something for you.. A FIST IN YOUR FACE AFTER I PULL YOU OFF THE BIKE.. I've learned that if you come in my space rudely unprepared after two broken fingers this year stopping these idiots with my hand, oh yes am learning it will be my fist not my finger stopping you!
I can only imagine a family out strolling on these trails running into these idiots.. REMEMBER PEDESTRIANS have THE RIGHT OF WAY!

I am sure each of you who complain of the horses that litter our trails enjoy something not everyone is fond of. To exhibit such hostile feelings for people who are enjoying a piece of what is here for all of us to use and enjoy, is ridiculous. Horse poop is not litter, it is indeed fertilizer! Why not use some of your bottled up anger and address the individuals who literally leave trash, i.e. beer bottles, cans, fast food wrappers, bags of garbage, on our roads, highways, and open land areas? Or maybe you who have problems and issues with the horseman are those that leave the litter!? Seek anger management classes for all of those who have to put up with your whining and unpleasant attitudes!

wow...seriously? i am not going to say there are not rude people out there, because there are, horse rider or not. not all horse riders are rude like youre saying. there are trails designated to horses and trails that are not. if you hate the poo so much DONT WALK ON THE F-ING TRAILS PEOPLE! HELLO! dont be so stupid. horse owners are not a lower class than you just because your too poor to own one. grow up and get a frikkin life. if horse poo is the biggest worry you have then you seriously need to get a life. you guys are way too uptight. you are never going to be required to pick up horse shit, get over it. and they are never going to ban horses from the trails, they are 90% of the profit, though they might ban stupid people who litter and dont pick up there dogs shit, which is very simple. so just get over it and chill out. geez.

The REAL problem is the rude hikers, bikers, and horse riders. Don't blame the horse and the bikes.
Learn some trail manners and everything will be fine.

Considering your ignorance, I would say you have no idea what a 'high end' hobby this is to do, people don't typically make minmum wage to own horses, they're educated and can afford to own horses. Does your hobby cost you $500.00 a month? Probably not even your car payment.
In addition, horses only eat grass, so it's not like dog Sh___t! It breaks down back into the earth, think about it?!
As tax payers with rights just like you, we have a right to use the trails and erode them just like the bikers, but we typically don't leave trash like I've seen hikers and the kayakers. Let's all share the trails and have a good time. Lose your attitude. Truly surprised about the negative comments in regards to horse people.

Intent to injure a horse or person on the trail is not acceptable. If you break a fork on your bike you buy a new one, if you break your leg you get a cast, if you break a horse's leg you put it down. BTW it's not horse being scared of people but more so people being afraid of a horses. Most of you wouldn't even have the proper ground manners to be around horses.

be more considerate, most bikes have access to roads and can ride almost anywhere. The same is not for horses as horses are limited where they can be ridden. Millions of dollars are spent to build roads but yet these mountain bikers want to claim horse trails.

Im sorry that all you bay area yuppies are offended by horses, but grow a pair, get real or go back to your pavment princess way of life. THIS IS A TRAIL! Not a SIDEWALK, Are you going to bitch if a bear poops on the trail? You need to realize that us "crazy horse people" pay for all your stuff and there wouldnt be a park if we wernt here. You wanna go on a hike? Then go to the MANY Places that are non horse areas. If I were to run into you on the trail whos gunna win??? a 1500lb animal or your little pit bull?? Think again before opening your mouth on something you have no idea about the history on our town or what the trail represents for some people. Horse trained or not, you still need to be polite and REALISTIC about what your talking about. Their is a reason that all the yuppies are coming up from the bay area, you want a country way of life well here are somethings that go along with it.

Why can't you just clean up after yourself.Didn't your high class mother ever teach you any manners? When I take my dog out on the trail I pick up after him.I guess that because you were raised so poorly you don't understand the notion of leaving a public place as clean or cleaner than you found it.You are a very selfish person. If you can't pick up after yourself then stay off"the fucking trails".

hey. you people ever look at things from the other side. maybe we horse owners and riders dont like having to deal with the hikers and the off leash, unruley dogs that yall think are so well trained. there are places that are strictly for horses and you hikers, walkers, and bike riders seem to take them all over. therefor YOU are invading our trails and with that it is not our problem that you want to be anal about what horse and rider do or dont cause. your probably just jealous you cant afford to own a horse.

Are you really so stupid that you think that anyone who disagrees with you does so simply because they can't afford a horse? You are a funny little man.I suppose that hikers have a problem with bicyclists simply because they can't afford bikes. You are an idiot. How does someone so stupid become wealthy enough to own a horse?LOL.Nobody here has defended off leash dogs. But while we are on the subject,I would say that probably a quarter of the equestrians that I run into on the trails are themselves in the company of off leash dogs.As far as horse only trails on public land go,that is just a rip off of the tax payers land. When some dope on a horse can't even tolerate a person in their natural state walking around on their own two feet then maybe it is time for these lazy wastes of space to be taken off of the trails all together.

You certainly have a hard time with speaking English for such an snobby horse lover.Your post makes no sense at all.Maybe you can explain how you equestrians pay for "all our stuff".LOL.Learn to conrol your animal and clean up after yourself or you will lose your spot on the trail.Don't worry, nobody will miss you.

Bottom line: equestrians are a huge minority of users on the trail. However, they pretty much demand/expect the trail for themselves, and many (not all) are quite rude to other non-equestrian users. We all pay taxes for this limited resource, its time that the trails be allowed for all users equally. The argument that "horse poo is grass" is ridiculous. Its fecal matter, period.

Everyone needs to calm down and stop bashing eachother like dramatic high school girls. The trails are designated for horses so of course they are going to be more trashed (Footing, Manure, ECT.) than others. I myself am an equestrian and while I believe that people should always make sure that their horse is 100% bombproof and completely trained and controlable, there are some people who are just full of themselves and think that they are in control when in reality they are not. Horses are not dumb animals they are actually extremely intellegent. I have every single one of my horses trained to wait to "go" until we are either near the trailer or they have a motion that they make that tells me they have to go right then and there and I move them off the trail competely without cutting into untouched land and thats where they go. They won't "go" in the lake either. They love to swim but will not relieve themselves while in the water. Now, Not all equestrians can convince their horses that this is a good idea so not all horses will do it. Mine have gone through 2 years of training with me personally before I even considered taking them on the trails at Folsom or anywhere else. Now all that being said. I find that 9 times out of 10 I have to yell at the people riding bikes because they practically run me and others of the trail, hikers and all. I do still have to yell at other equestrians too though, there are some that do not have control or just dont care about other people on the trail. But if it is an equestrian trail everyone else needs to get over the horse poo and just keep walking or go to a trail that is restricted to horses. That simple. Now lets all remember that we are grown adults and stop acting like children. If you dont like horses, thats fine, then stay away from the trails that allow horses and go somewhere else. I know there are plenty of those around so keep driving til you find one. Grow up people.

Also, Horses eat only grass and grain or fodder.... therefore it is just grass... they don't eat meat so there is no protien other than the natural protien found in grass, there is no acid unless they are eating foods that they are not supposed to, And unless they urinate on the trail there is no ammonia... which is the chemical that would errod the trail so the arguement is valid. Why do you think that ranchers dont clean up their pastures when horses or cattle deficate out there??? Because its fertilizer and grass seed.... If no one hiked on an equestrian trail for an entire winter and came back in spring there would be no trail at all because grass and other vegitation would overtake the trails no matter how much the soil was ripped up from the users. So Yeah it is a valid arguement, yours just became invalid.
