What's wrong with Mrs. Brewer? We all know religion & politics are SENSATIVE issues. If she had been a LOGICAL & SENSATIVE parent/adult, she would have told her child this costume choice could be a controversial issue AND EXPLAIN WHY. Instead, she chose allow the costume then file this ludacris suit against the school district after being confronted on her choice! Now my astronomical school tax dollars will be spent to defend this stupid suit! Is any money coming from Mrs. Brewer's personal pocket to pursue this? Probably not. And, I'll bet the Alliance Defence Fund is doing this pro bono!

I can't believe someone is actually suing over this, it STUPID!!! CHILL OUT PEOPLE and stop being so angry and hateful. The adults are acting more childish than the kids.

Well, since they let my kids dress like witches I don't see why her kid can't dress like Jesus. My little nephew dressed like a priest for Halloween once, with the whole cassock(looks like a long black dress). Anyway the teacher said he couldn't be a priest so he said fine I'm not a priest I'm a judge. Worked just fine. I think dressing up either as Jesus or a priest is pretty silly for Halloween but hey different strokes for different folks.

This is rediculous. It's halloween, you should be able to dress up as anything you want as long it doesn't infring on someone else's rights.

They do have just a few rules at my kids school but they are all pretty good. No toy weapons (too many little boys pokeing each other with them) No costumes that are extremely difficult to move around in or get in and out of, and no costumes that are very frightening (don't want to scare the Kindergardeners). Its all good common sense to me. I have never tried to dress my kids up as religous figures so not sure how they would react to it. Its halloween, its not a christian holiday-not sure why any one would want to dress up that way-but if they do I don't see why they shouldn't. I mean its not like someone kid is going to say, "my buddy dressed as Jesus, I am now compelled to become a christian. Do not stand between me and the nearest baptismal font." Government is not establishing a religion just by allowing someone to dress up in a religous manner. After all taken to the extreme one could see Muslim women being unable to walk into a government building without haveing to take off their burkas or headshawls, christians haveing to strip off their crosses, pagans would have to take off any goddess/god oriented jewelry. Could you imagine how difficult it would be to walk into a Social Security Office, Court Building exctra, if they were as strict as they are in the schools?

It would be counter productive to accomplishing anything yes. On the other hand school is where young kids grow and learn so should be sterilized of religion. Now halloween is different, if a kid can dress as a witch they should be able to dress like Jesus or a priest. There are limits, letting the kid walk around in a loin cloth, strapped to a cross might be a bit much but you get me.

Jesus is just another mythological figure to many people. Akin to dressing up like Zeus, or Aeries. I am curious to see Hamlet 2. We shall see.
