I guess time will tell if it was a smart move or not. I am happy for those who got what they wanted, especially the ones who didnt lose their homes. I just hate to see an anti-business attitude in any city or town. If you dont grow with the times, you just kinda die off.

cant wait to the state revaluation comes in and
the property taxes go through the roof and everybody
is crying about how high the taxes are...the north
end with the welfare babies and abandon buildings
look soooooooo nice. Can't wait to drive through
the beautiful neighborhood and see the spandex women
getting into the cab to go get the welfare check.
They will build in another town and take the street
improvements and property improvements somewhere else. Ha Ha to the North End residents. Property
values will continue to go down and try to sell
one of those dumps now. HAHA HAHA HAHA

All over the State they say we need more building of stores and homes to bring the taxes down. When it is done the taxes still go up. It is nothing but lies from the ones in power to make you think it is going to help. Bull Shit. Has not happened yet. If you own a lot to build on, when you can, the city will tax the hell out of it. I know where there is a lot that is .80 of an acre with only half of it good to build a home on. Taxes are $840.00 bucks a year. This is a fact.-- If you like lies just listen to the fools in office. haha

Does this mean that all women that live in the North End, and were spandex pants are on welfare? What part of Rockland do you live in great real? As with any city Rockland has it's good and bad parts. There are also a lot of hard working family's in Rockland. I moved out of Rockland in the 50's, but still have a lot of family and friends that live there, and still visit there 3or4 times a year. Needless to say Rockland has changed a lot since then, but its still my home town.

Progress is what every town is going through except
Rockland. Tell me how the abandon buildings will
improve property values.....the empty vacant lots
give people a place a conduct drug deals and whatever else. Some new taxes are better then none.
What town would turn down WORK in this economy.
Construction work and full time employment. Again
HAHA HAHA to the North End idiots. Now it was
just on Channel 6 News....even they seem astonished
ABONDONED buildings and the owners have no way to
pay their bills. They should ask the residents of
Rockland to chip in and help them pay. Oh I forgot the church property pays NO TAXES. Stupid
old Rockland. Just look how they decorate for Christmas. Once a fool, always a fool.

North end or South end. The only problem down in Rockland is the City Council and a few others that don't do a thing but bitch. You have seen what can be done when the people get together and stop the fools that govern. I read some time ago where the Council voted for improvements at the treatment plant, and they spent 8 million to cut the smell down. They made the people think it would help to get what they wanted. It did not work from day one. If you live in Rockland you should spend time at the Council meetings. Sometimes there is not a sole from the public there. Now they are after more. The fools built it downtown. DUH.

who is the real fools...no one was loosing a house
only the ones that wanted to sell....the logic
that has been presented on this only proves my points as to the stupidity of the tax payers.
Once again HAHAHa to the fools of Rockland. Keep
all new businesses out and let the old ones die.

Will be a ghost town and well deserved. FOOLS

I don't think Rockland is any different than any other city or town, and if we don't like the way they are run we could run for town offices, or join a group to help improve it. I think this Walgreens artical has turned into a rant about Rockland. If you dislike Rockland so much great real if at all possible you should move, but I bet another city would have it,s problems too.

I have worked for Walgreens for 3 years. I lived in Rockland for about 14. Then I moved to Florida. Which is were I worked for them. They have a very reputable Pharmacy. I don't see why ya'll don't want one of their stores in town. It's just a competition against Rite Aid, but I assure you Walgreens carries more products than Rite Aid, I say this because I've worked at 3 stores in two states. and I have been into Rite Aid... It's that simple.
Plus their Photo department is fabulous as well.

Go spend your money with them. Not me, I save several hundred bucks by shopping where the prices are normal, not jacked way up like Rite Aid and Walgreens. Walgreens will only stay a few years getting their pockets full and leave when things slow down. Don't be surprised if Rite Aid leaves soon. I hear that Goodnows in Rockland has the lowest prices than any other drugstore in the State, when it comes to the drug sales.
