The company I work with has been opening Internet cafes all over the US for 10 years. They can tax sweepstakes, but then they'll have to tax *all* sweepstakes. It's not easy to single out a specific sweepstakes (like Internet or phone time) and not tax others (like McDonalds or Time Warner or Coca Cola).
With all due respect to local law, our group at want to see sweepstakes stay in business. We help people start new sweepstakes businesses and people have so much good, clean fun in this business!

Hey I think that if there not hurting & are helping others as well as relaxing & are giving shear enjoyment why stop that? If the companies are not creaturing a problem for the government by these folks who want to play to win and lose money off & on then why does it matter to the government ? Are they losing money by these places of business being open? Is the government just trying to make this about making more money for them in the long run? We the people who enjoy going every no and then would like to know and understand. PLEASE HELP ME 2 UNDERSTAND?

I have been to a local internet cafe a few times; what I see is the majority there are people over 50 that need some entertainment and they don't exactly fit in at the skating rink or the bowling alley. It's a situation with new jobs for some and entertainment for the others...I've never seen anyone drinking, fighting or even using bad language. who is it hurting? Collect the taxes on the places and help those that are less fortunate.

When you win over $510 at the cafes they say you have taxes on it. Are they required to give you a loss statement also? How can you get your loss statement?

Sweepstakes is a new market opportunity. It creates jobs and is true American innovation at it's finest. America creates new markets, we create jobs, we build. Why is government stiffling a new industry at a time when we need jobs. These jobs are not going overseas or being outsourced. The software companies, the sales people, the sweepstakes operators, the increased spending to construct these business, the empty spaces in commercial real estate that is occupied, the services these businesses need are integral and impacting on local economies. State legislators need to be open and less narrow focused. As an Independent, I will vote for those who are more intelligent and broader minded than the fools who are limited. When unemployment increases and additional budgets are short, please don't complain when teacher salaries are reduced, public services are decreased, or police are laid off to serve the public. It is new economies and new innovations like sweepstakes that will impact our futures.

I feel that people should be able to do almost what they want with their money but I don't think it is right for companies to bring things like internet sweepstakes in a low populated town or city. All the money that the government have why not build fun places for the youth? It is unfair to society for places like this to be built while their are few places to go to enjoy yourself. It is another form of gambling. What do you think?
