Youth program works for positive change

Empowerment begins at home. Positive change can't happen there - have you seen this "neighborhood?"
First you have to convince someone to clean up all the garbage out from under there feet. Get a job and stop living off mama and grandma. Won't happen. Before you all start writing and telling me how bad I am, you go into that "neighborhood" and clean it yourself.

Teens coming from every background need to be told that they cannot use their life's hurts to excuse them from being responsible. If my parents would've so this or that is no longer acceptable in my book.Alot of us could sit around and feel sorry for ourselves, but it is more help to be told to rise above your raising. If you were neglected, abused, abandoned,it does'nt matter.God will not give you more than you can handle,so he must think you are very strong,no matter what you may think.Use the bad in your life for your positive, not for your detriment. If kids are told in a no nonsense sort of way they do respond well.As a teacher I have seen this time and time again, and every once in a while you get one that stands up against all odds, and raises the bar.In twelve years,I have had on average one a year.I,too believe it begins at home, but when that isn't there, thank God others are.
