That guy who has been on board for 30 years HAS GOT TO GO... There is no evidence of any progress or growth in the library for that long. Just in the last 2 years has the library turned a corner.. and probably because there has been more public interest and pressure. If it wasnt for that, the library would just disappear.
There needs to be more advertising that there are library board meetings and reeelections.
30 years is ridiculous. Just ridiculous. Cant the newer members run for president?
The president is up next April. Someone who is from the outside has to run. Call the election in the cook county building to find out what paper work is necessary.

trouble is.. no new people are interested in becoming library trustees.. if the public was really involved and concerned about the quality of the library.. they would consider being library trustees.. but young people today dont want to contribute but sure like to complain
Why don't you run?

Marge,
That's the point, ALL board of trustee meetings are for the public thanks to the Open Meetings Act, but the board likes to pretend like they are a private club, some members don't want the public to know what they are up to.
It is very easy to report the meetings are held upstairs.

there was a meeting to discuss building a new library..once again....no one could figure out if this meeting was for the public or for the trustees only. The meetings are always open to the public.

These trustees have been on board for over a decade.. time to go and get some new blood.
One trustee has been there 30 years. He is up next April. Someone needs to run against him.

especially when they bought real estate property on center st. and grand ave and now they could not even give it away. The public did not even know about the properties.

I don't understand how these trustees bought real estate property and there was no new library built. that library has been there a long time. I noticed there is someone living in that house on center st. next to that lot.

no one is going to do or say anything about their purchase of the real estate property.

It seems RG and Elmwood Park have something in common= Inspectors that don't do there job and others too.
Interesting that he was arrested just days before a Fox News and BGA investigation aired on TV starring this inspector speaking out about corruption in Elmwood Park.
http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/investig ...
He is arrested by Cook County Police days before a story airs about corruption involving a Cook County Commissioner (Peter Silvestri). Local law enforcement is not used and county resources are used to arrest a man for supposedly filing a false report?
Sounds like there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. I wonder what corruption-buster Toni Preckwinkle will have to say about all of this?

If the inspector was so concerned about this than why did he wait untill he got fired to complain. Why not a year or two ago. Sounds like alot of bullsh-t if you ask me. Some one really made themselves look like a total moran on tv tonight. I heard there looking for carpenters in alaska.

It's too early and interesting to call bullsh-t on either side of this story. Unless you've already made up your mind and don't care to find out who is lying, but that would make you a real "moran".

Elmwood Park is full of corruption especially with inspectors passing inspections that never should have been passed. I bet they made alot of money under the table (without remorse) while us homeowners are left with thousands & thousands of dollars in repairs, not to mention all the problems involved with no one, not even the village, to take accountability. One thing I wish for is that those very inspectors and everyone else involved in passing the inspection on my building and many other buildings in Elmwood Park with all kinds of issues due to corrupt inspectors and illegally passing inspections that clearly NEVER SHOULD OF BEEN PASSED, I HOPE NOT ONLY THAT YOU ALL GO TO JAIL FOR A VERY VERY LONG TIME BUT ALSO THAT YOUR HOUSE ISSUES TURN OUT TO BE WORSE THAN THE ISSUES WE VICTIMS ARE LEFT TO DEALT WITH & YOU TOO LIVE THE CONSEQUENCES EVERYDAY AS WE DO!!! You should all be ashamed of yourselves, money is the root of all evil! How do you even sleep at night??? What goes around comes around!!!

That's the way it's done in Melrose too. Some of the inspectors have last names of mayors. They are incompetent crooks.

The elmwood park board meetings have been fun lately. I dont go but there on youtube. People are asking questions. Silvestri keeps saying nothing is wrong and its all just politics. How many times can politicians be caught lying and with hands in out cookie jars before they go to jail?

visited the library and it is doing a lot bette thant it used to.. Certainly looks better than it used to. But it was going good for about 2 years. There were new programs, computer classes, etc.

Now it seems it has gone downhill again. They're not offering as many programs as they did.

Not sure what is going on.

I truly wish that the RG library board would just disband and have the library be acquired by another library...like Franklin park. They seem to have their act together.

The way the RG library is going it seems it is always and up or down thing with them. And I vote NO CONFIDENCE in the current board. It is high time they go away. Their decisions have only impacted the library in a negative way. They are the library's worse enemies in my opinion.

if there seems to be less programs it is probably because there is high turn over in staffing. it is hard to stick around on min. wage and no benefits.

yup ..i noticed it too. they had some really helpful bright people who knew their way around a library. seems like they are back in hiring anyone off the street. Seems like the board wants them dumber so maybe they wont be questioned on anything.
I am just fed up with this library board...and dont say why dont I run. Why should I run or anyone else for that matter if the same old dunderhead trustees are running the show. That is why no one wants to run...who wants to deal with those morons. i It is a lsot cause.

The house is supposedly being rented out by the library.
