River Grove LIbrary needs new Trustees

I have seen other libraries and then I see the library in River Grove and I have come with the Conclusion that it is time for the current trustees to go.. They do not have a clue about what a proper modern public libray should be like. They are hurting the residents of River Grove by holding back the library from being the best that it can be. These trustees have been on board for over a decade.. time to go and get some new blood.

trouble is.. no new people are interested in becoming library trustees.. if the public was really involved and concerned about the quality of the library.. they would consider being library trustees.. but young people today dont want to contribute but sure like to complain

sorry to say this.. but eventually I think the library will be closed down...doesnt appear to have too many people interested in keeping it open.

No no.. I go to the library.. I see a lot of people in the library. It cant close down.

People .. start going to the library board meetings and get involved.. if not he library will close down.. Dont you care that there is no library to take your children to.

there was a meeting to discuss building a new library..once again....no one could figure out if this meeting was for the public or for the trustees only. And yet again the disorganization continues. no one knows what is going on ...just so disorganized, no wonder we dont have a new library in all these years... these folks are not on the same page....

Yes there will be spots in April of 2013, Michael Prokop (library board president of over 30 years) will be up for re election, as well as Susan Szeszol (the newest trustee) The older trustees are re-elected every year by default since no one runs against them

That's the point, ALL board of trustee meetings are for the public thanks to the Open Meetings Act, but the board likes to pretend like they are a private club, some members don't want the public to know what they are up to.

that guy has not done anything in 30 years.

That guy who has been on board for 30 years HAS GOT TO GO... There is no evidence of any progress or growth in the library for that long. Just in the last 2 years has the library turned a corner.. and probably because there has been more public interest and pressure. If it wasnt for that, the library would just disappear.

There needs to be more advertising that there are library board meetings and reeelections.

30 years is ridiculous. Just ridiculous. Cant the newer members run for president?

noticed the library finally has book drops... After 30 years, it has dawned on them that this would be needed... What they heck did they discuss at the board meetings for 30 years?

someone else mentioned this before.. why doesnt the River Grove Library merge with either Franklin Park or Elmwood Park libraries

The fox river grove and Cary libraries are considering it ... why not River Grove?

There will be two openings next year in April. The board president is up. He has been on the board for 30 years.
