This action will mostly hurt Rockford Memorial Hospital. More so any failure of RMH will cause hardship to those on the west side who depend on RMH for medical care. Sometime, and sadly so, the ER is their primary care for the flu and other ailments most of us take for granted.
A merger will protect RMH and incorporate many of the neediest of Rockford into a larger health system. Most importantly it will keep a hospital on the west side of Rockford.
