Just drove by the masion this evening, I don't think it was creepy it is really beautiful. The chimney from the old cabin is there and looks cool. My 13 year daughter was with me and commented on how beautiful the whole picture was. I have grown up in NS moved away and now moved back. Just tales to keep all of us out - it looks like a great site for a public picnic area. Sad no one has been able to put the money into fixing it all up. It would be awesome b/b!

i live in nora spings and my grandparents work for the history dept. and there is no such thing as the gaylord murder, i have persnaly been inside of the massion many times before. The story of the murder was to make us kids of nora springs stay out because the house is unsafe and the floor could fall out. Then a lady bought the house and it bourded up people say( this is not a fact) that she is going to restore it or something. now i have been to the bridge as well and he did not hang himself there but some kids thinking that they where funny put an old rope in one of the side tunnels in the birdge so it would look like the rope that he hungs himself with. the gaylords move away in later years when they lived there. they have died not from murder but from age. all the things you have heared are rummers they are not ture there was not a murder at the gaylord massion

My parents lived in part of the house in the early 50's it was not haunted and no one had been killed there. An older lady lived in one half and my parents and sister and brother in the other half. My mom talked to the lady that bought it a few yrs ago and she had plans of fixing it up but nothing has been done lately and have lost contact with the one that bought it. not sure if someone else now owns it for there are cows around it now.

The house is owned by Mickey Wells and Charlotte Ranney of Solon, IA. I looked it up in the Floyd County property records. They bought the house and the 20 acres that go with it in 2003 from Ronald and Joanne Jurasek for $116,500. Don't know why you'd pay that much if you weren't planning on fixing it up or doing something with it.

so sad that kids can't stay out of the house!!! so much history and if someone wants to fix it up more power to them. Just don't know why they haven't done anything for a while.

I talked to the mother of the person that owns it and they have no intentions of making it into a bean field.

Sorry, I talked to Charlotte's mom and she knew nothing about it, if that is so it is sad but would take way too much to fix the place up. My mom would really like to see the place again even if it is a mess, she is 87 yrs old.

I have found two abandoned old bridges in Nora Springs walking distance from each other. Both of these bridges are no longer in use. One of them is a stone arch railroad bridge and the other is an old rusty bridge. If anyone has any information about these bridges look for them on flickr.com . I heard on eof them was haunted. thanks
