First point here is the article never stated that Jake's mother purchased his car for him. It stated definitifely that he was employed full time, graduated last year and diliigently working towards saving money to move out of his parents house and live independant and responsible. It only stated that the mother co-signed for the loan of the car. come how many of us as parents who are able to help are children along in life wouldn't do that especially if they are working and living responsible. Now, to the more pressing issue of today's news release that both Jake and his new girlfriend where both intoxicated. This is like a dejuve of the case of the guy I just seen sentenced to 51/2 years in state prison for a young dancer killed in his car out by the Rose Garden. I just hope that the the public takes note that both paries were drinking not just Jake. Had the vehicle been owned by the female and she was the one driving both home the same senario could have taken place. Reading the previous article disturbed me that the young man who owned his own successful hair salon was held soley responsible in the laws eyes and by the comments the publics. The only difference in that situation they were both 25 years of age and you would hope by 25 not making such impulsive decicsions. The reality here is all of our kids drink, all of the who own cars will or probably have at some time gotten behind the wheel of a vehicle if not under the influence of alchol maybe other illegal drugs. I AGREE RAISE THE DRIVING AGE, FORCE LAW ENFORCEMENT TO GO AFTER ANYBODY WHO PROVIDES ALCHOL/AND OR DRUGS TO OUR CHILDREN AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. LET'S FACE IT WHEN WE WHERE YOUNG WE ARE PROBABLY IF WE PUT ALL OF OUR DECISIONS UNDER A MICROSCOPE WE ARE PROBABLY NOT SUPPOSE TO BE AS FORTUNATE TO BE HEAR READING ABOUT THIS TRAGEDY. GOD HAS TAKEN THE BOTH OF THEM TO ONE OF HIS MANY MANSIONS AND BY READING THE SUM OF THE BOTH OF THEIR LIVES I'M SURE OF THAT. THEIR STORY IS NOT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS ONE FATAL DECISION. THEIR STORY IS THE GREAT LIVES THEY LIVED PRIOR TO THIS ONE BAD DECISION. SHARE HOW THE STORY WAS CUT SHORT BY WHEREEVVER OR WHOMEVER PROVIDED THE ALCHOL TO THESE MINORS.

<quoted text>Better yet parents...don't buy your children cars...if they want one have them get a job and buy their own.....would keep a lot of very irresponsible children off the roads and out of a lot of trouble....hard work never hurt anyone!!!! Quite spoiling these children!!!!

Wow, to all the crude ones that want to come on here now and throw back in all these kids friends of the victims that there was alchol involved. Dam, give it a break already. Any grown up not emotionally involved as a family member or close friend i'm sure assummed as much especially given the impact of the car and the fact that there was a light at that pole ect. That doesn't change the fact that when something happens to someone you love like this yes you would like to think or hope it couldn't have been that they did something so crazy that could have changed the events that fatal evening. IF I WAS THE PUBLIC I WILL SAY IT ONCE AGAIN TRACE WHERE THOSE KIDS WHERE THAT EVENING, FIND OUT HOW THEY GOT HE ALCHOL. THAT IS WHO IS MORE RESPONSIBLE WHOM EVER SERVED THEM OR MADE THE DECISION TO GO TO THE LIQUOR STORE AND PURCHASE IT AND PROVIDE IT TO AN 17 & 18 YEAR OLD. I AM ALL FOR JUST WHAT THEY DID TO THE WOMEN IN PALMERTON WHO BOUGHT THE LIQUOR THAT CONSEQUENTLY KILLED TWO TEENS. THE DRIVE GOT YEARS IN PRISON AND SHE GOT 6 MONTHS AND THINKS IT WAS TOO MUCH. NO IT WASN'T SHE SHOULD HAVE GOT THE YEARS AN THAT IS WHAT SOCIETY SHOULD BE PUSHING FOR. THAT IS WHAT WILL MAKIE A DIFFERENCE.
